Nancy B. Olson, cataloger in Library Services and Information Technology, Minnesota State University, Mankato, has been awarded the 1999 Margaret Mann Citation from the Association for Library Collections & Technical Services (ALCTS) Cataloging and Classification Section.

The award, which includes a citation and a $2,000 scholarship donated in the recipient’s honor by OCLC to the library school of the winner’s choice, recognizes outstanding professional achievement in cataloging or classification.

"As one of the world’s most respected and admired experts in the cataloging of audiovisual and electronic resources, Nancy Olson has been instrumental in guiding the evolution and promoting the adoption of standardized cataloging for these formats," said Eric Childress, chair of the Margaret Mann Citation Committee, and senior product support specialist, OCLC Library Resources Division.

Ms. Olson is author of several standard texts on the cataloging of audiovisual and electronic resources in use worldwide. She founded Soldier Creek Press, Lake Crystal, Minnesota, a publisher of library cataloging manuals.

The Margaret Mann Citation will be presented at the ALCTS Membership Meeting and President’s Program on June 28 during the American Library Association Annual Conference in New Orleans.
