Records from HARRASSOWITZ added to WorldCat

Records from HARRASSOWITZ, a bookseller and subscription agent based in Wiesbaden, Germany, are being added to WorldCat.

More than 21,000 HARRASSOWITZ records have already been added to WorldCat since September, and some 2,000 records will be added to the database each month.

HARRASSOWITZ provides books from all European countries, with special emphasis on publications originating from Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

"Adding our bibliographic records to WorldCat is an important milestone in the long history of our company," said Knut Dorn, managing partner, HARRASSOWITZ. "My partners and I are very pleased with the cooperation we have received from OCLC, and we do appreciate the opportunity to share our bibliographic data with the library community worldwide."

"The records provided by HARRASSOWITZ are a welcome addition to WorldCat," said Marda Johnson, director, OCLC Collections and Technical Services. "These records enhance and expand the database, making it easier for librarians worldwide to find the acquisition, cataloging and reference information they need."

In addition to contributing records to WorldCat, HARRASSOWITZ is accepting requests for purchase of titles from their collection as an OCLC Selection service book vendor. The OCLC symbol for HARRASSOWITZ is OHX.

The OCLC Selection service automates the selection and acquisition process by providing access to multiple resource files, including WorldCat, for easy identification of materials to be ordered.

For more than 125 years, HARRASSOWITZ has provided services to the academic and research library community that support the selection and acquisition of books and periodicals in all formats and media, as well as management reports and data to facilitate the administration of information access.
