Museum Resources
RLG's Museum Resources project comprised several initiatives in the 1990s to integrate discovery and delivery of visual and descriptive information:
- The AMICO Library, a database available through RLG of art images and accompanying descriptions.
- The 1998 joint RLG-Visual Resources Association VISION project, in which 32 VRA members used a Web-based template to catalog photographs and slides of works of art, architecture, and other cultural heritage artifacts in the first implementation of the VRA Data Standards Committee's "Core Categories for Visual Resources, Version 2.0."
- The 1997-98 REACH project (Record Export for Art and Cultural Heritage), initiated by RLG and the Getty Information Institute and enlisting several museums and museum system vendors, which dealt with how to make disparate data for museum objects created in various systems searchable in an integrated resource environment.
The Museum Resources project has fed into the Cultural Materials Initiative to improve access to cultural materials, an RLG priority for 2000-2003.
