Ceremonies/medicine: Dine use the sagebrush for such purpose as herbal medicine. Sagebrush leaves and stems are used to make a herbal tea drink for relief of cold symptoms. Sagebrush is a member of the evergreen family. The sagebrush can be picked year round.
Needed items for sagebrush medicine preparation: pot or saucepan for boiling, a fist of sage stems and leaves, and one quart of water.
Boiling Preparation: Brew sage stem pieces and leaves in a pot or saucepan and bring it to a boil. Continue to boil for approximately 3 -4 minutes. When the sagebrush medicine cools, you may drink the herbal sage medicine. At this time, it will look like tea. Sage medicine will taste bitter. Sugar is not added to the herbal medicine.
