Training

Training is a crucial element of the initial implementation, and this is then part of the ongoing partnership with our customers. When it comes to training, OCLC PICA believe that flexibility is the key to success.

Ready-to-run courses

Using our years of experience of working with library, information and knowledge professionals, we have developed a menu of 'ready-made' courses for each of our solutions.

Courses for new sites have been designed to deliver what you need to know to get you up and running, fast. More advanced courses are then available to develop your staff's skills and deepen their understanding of how to make our solutions work for you.

Our courses cater for staff needs at all levels and are all supported by comprehensive training manuals - available in printed or electronic formats.

Our experienced trainers aim to ensure that staff feel confident using our systems. Training sessions are run as a combination of presentation, discussion and interactive hands-on sessions.

When you need something special...

OCLC PICA recognise that each implementation is unique and that large scale and complex projects in particular require a tailor-made approach to course content and delivery methods.

OCLC PICA can tailor the combination and sequencing of courses to suit the customer, their staff and their implementation.

Discussion sessions are often built into a training programme to discuss wider issues of policies and procedure.

Flexible training delivery options

While on-site "face to face" training is still favoured by many customers, OCLC PICA offer a mix of training delivery methods, increasingly including online and multi-media alternatives.  These include:

    • On-site, group training
    • Training at OCLC PICA training facilities
    • Online tutorials
    • Online interactive training sessions
    • Online recorded training sessions

Any of the courses may also be run as refresher' training courses, e.g. for new members of staff. If larger groups require training, repeat sessions can be delivered, or the site can adopt a 'train the trainer' approach.
