Thanks to the separate external and internal formats, CBS allows the cataloguing format to be defined independently. At the moment, CBS supports the following formats for cataloguing: Pica3, MARC21, UNIMARC, MAB and DC(X).
Based on the internal format, with help of powerful table functions almost all possible search aspects are available for retrieval. Efficient algorithms allow indexing of practically unlimited data amounts with excellent response times. The free definition of title presentation for libraries and users guarantee flexibility for the most diverse types of use.
The output you require
For local catalogue building, CBS offers you multiple exporting facilities: Online Update Mechanism (OUM) and Online Update Fetch (OUF), download of the title data or batch export via e-mail or FTP. OUM gives you an integrated connection with OCLC PICA’s local library system LBS, OUF offers the same functionality with other local systems. There are also facilities for selecting, sorting and presenting the records on the basis of XML and Unicode, while all current exchange formats are supported.
