In the book Best in the Nation, the ‘Ohio public libraries serving the local communities’ chapter  by Steven Hedges and Alan Hall summarizes the critical role Ohio libraries have had toward increasing equitable  access to literature and information throughout our history. State Librarian’s Report

Jo Budler
State Librarian

Ohio is a truly blessed state when it comes to libraries.  Not only do we have state support in funding but we also have valuable people resources – folks who know the value of partnerships and a willingness to collaborate to provide excellent library service to all residents.

Ohio is rich in consortial partnerships such as: Clevnet, Discovery Place, and Search Ohio, Central Library Consortium (CLC) to name just a few. I found a similar situation in Ashtabula where Council of Ashtabula County Libraries (CACL) is administered by Director Bill Tokarczyk and his staff at Ashtabula County District Library. CACL now includes 6 public libraries and 10 school libraries sharing a Dynix/Horizon ILS.    continued....
