Finding tags
A few folks here in the halls and cubes of OCLC suggested I share a quick hack with our blog readers. We added a tagging feature to WorldCat.org a number of weeks ago, and the list of items tagged is steadily growing.
But how do you know if a tag has been used and if it has been used what items have been tagged? Just hack the URL a bit:
< http://www.worldcat.org/tags/YOUR WORD HERE >
For instance I'm using tags to keep track of some poetry books to find something that would be good to read with my sons:
http://www.worldcat.org/tags/poetry
Just add "/tags" to the url and "/adventure" or whatever else you're interested in after "/tags." You'll get an Oops page fairly often as our tags are only a few weeks old. If you do get an Oops page, think about what you expected to find there then locate it in WorldCat and tag it yourself!
Now you might wonder why need to hack a URL to get a list of tags when you could just click through a tag cloud. We'll answer that riddle for you early next year.
