Digital typography using LaTeX by Apostolos Syropoulos( )

27 editions published between 1899 and 2003 in English and Italian and held by 855 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The purpose of the book is to introduce new users to the use of the TeX system, in particular document preparation using LaTeX. It seeks to avoid the pitfalls of having to search through several advanced books on the subject, by collecting together the more frequently required tools and presenting these in a single accessible volume. It will also describe the recent developments in multilingual typesetting using TeX that now make it straightforward for users to prepare documents in their own language and alphabet, giving the book a global readership. The main presentation will be independent of any particular type of computer hardware, though a section will contain details of some of the more popular versions of TeX for each type of machine and details of where they can be downloaded on the Internet from, or purchased at low cost on a convenient compact disk. Topics and features: multi-lingual uses of LaTeX; discussion of hardware implementations; use and misuse of particular LaTeX commands; some treatment of graphics; inclusion of exercises with solutions*discussion of common errors; inclusion of many examples
Hypercomputation : computing beyond the Church-Turing barrier by Apostolos Syropoulos( )

19 editions published between 2006 and 2008 in English and held by 527 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This book will provide a thorough description of the field of hypercomputation, covering all attempts at devising conceptual hypermachines and all new promising computational paradigms that may eventually lead to the construction of a hypermachine." "The book features descriptions of the various attempts of hypercomputation: from trial-and-error machines to the exploration of the human mind treated as a device with computational abilities. Hypercomputation: Computing Beyond the Church-Turing Barrier is fairly self-contained but requires a solid background in mathematics (calculus, discrete mathematics, algebra, and topology)."--Jacket
TeX, XML, and digital typography : International Conference on TeX, XML, and Digital Typography, held jointly with the 25th Annual Meeting of the TeX Users Group, TUG 2004, Xanthi, Greece, August 30-September 3, 2004 ; proceedings by Apostolos Syropoulos( )

16 editions published in 2004 in English and held by 437 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Conference on TEX, XML, and Digital Typography, held jointly with the 25th Annual Meeting of the TEX User Group, TUG 2004 in Xanthi, Greece in August/September 2004. The 21 revised full papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected for inclusion in the book. The papers reflect the state of the art of digital typography using TEX or its offsprings. Besides typesetting issues, the papers deal with topics like multilingual document preparation, XML document processing and generation, complex bibliographic databases, and automatic conversion
Theory of fuzzy computation by Apostolos Syropoulos( )

5 editions published between 2013 and 2016 in English and held by 296 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The book provides the first full length exploration of fuzzy computability. It describes the notion of fuzziness and present the foundation of computability theory. It then presents the various approaches to fuzzy computability. This text provides a glimpse into the different approaches in this area, which is important for researchers in order to have a clear view of the field. It contains a detailed literature review and the author includes all proofs to make the presentation accessible. Ideas for future research and explorations are also provided. Students and researchers in computer science and mathematics will benefit from this work. --
Steps in Scala : an introduction to object-functional programming by Christos K. K Loverdos( )

14 editions published in 2010 in English and held by 279 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Scala is a highly expressive, concise and scalable language. It is also the most prominent method of the new and exciting methodology known as object-functional programming. In this book, the authors show how Scala grows to the needs of the programmer, whether professional or hobbyist. They teach Scala with a step-by-step approach and explain how to exploit the full power of the industry-proven JVM technology. Readers can then dive into specially chosen design challenges and implementation problems, inspired by the trials of real-world software engineering. It also helps readers to embrace the power of static typing and automatic type inference. In addition, the book shows how to use the dual-object and functional-oriented natures combined at Scala's core, and so write code that is less 'boilerplate', giving a genuine increase in productivity"--
Demystifying computation : a hands-on introduction by Apostolos Syropoulos( Book )

7 editions published in 2017 in English and held by 158 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Problem solving in computing is referred to as computational thinking. The theory behind this concept is challenging in its technicalities, yet simple in its ideas. This book introduces the theory of computation from its inception to current form of complexity; from explanations of how the field of computer science was formed using classical ideas in mathematics by Gödel, to conceptualization of the Turing Machine to its more recent innovations in quantum computation, hypercomputation, vague computing and natural computing. It describes the impact of these in relation to academia, business and wider society, providing a sound theoretical basis for its practical application."--Back cover
