1 edition published in 1976 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Psychiatric treatment for children has relied on residential treatment or traditional outpatient clinics. The film demonstrates a new way to prevent hospitalization by treating children in their own homes and schools. A case history follows a family through treatment, depicting the innovative therapeutic approach developed by the Home & Community Treatment Program (HCT) of Mendota Mental Health Institute. HCT brings treatment to the child, allowing the child to remain in his own environment where treatment responsibility is given to the family. Parents become therapists with HCT staff, who work as teachers and coaches, adapting treatment methods to the particular family
