Lucy has put on 22 lbs. since marrying Ricky (from 110 to 132 lbs.). Ricky says he likes her plump. A singer featured in Ricky's Tropicana nightclub act is getting married and will be quitting the show. Needless to say, Lucy wants the job. At auditions the next day, Lucy is told she can have the job, but only if she loses 12 lbs. in four days so that she will fit into the ex-singer's size 12 outfit. Lucy runs laps in the apartment, eats nothing but celery stalks, and rents a steam box. Ricky sings Chick-chicky boom and Lucy comes out and dances while he sings. At the end of the show, the doctor tells Lucy that she is suffering from malnutrition and must stay in bed for three weeks
