"This monumental volume, featuring the full range of Paris architecture, from the majestic cathedral of Notre Dame to the playfully futuristic Pompidou Center, provides a view of Paris like no other. As captured by accomplished photographers Jorg Brockmann and James Driscol, the private houses, public spaces, hotels, churches, stores, restaurants, and workplaces showcased here represent Paris in all of its richness and diversity. The accompanying text combines the colorful history of the buildings and surrounding neighborhoods with an informative look at the architects' visions and styles, providing a unique overview of the evolution of the city over the centures. Organized by arrondissement, with a keyed map accompanying each section and numerous sidebars discussing various aspects of the city, One Thousand Buildings of Paris is a comprehensive tour through one of the world's most popular and romantic destinations."--Front jacket flap

Kopiec Bonawentura by Lucas Olivet( Book )

4 editions published in 2018 in English and held by 28 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The photographs of the series 'Kopiec Bonawentura' takes its origin from a quote by french author Alfred Jarry from its play Ubu Roi (1896): "Set in Poland, that is to say nowhere." The photographer Lucas Olivet (*1985) builds a multiple and transnational answer, somewhere between Poland and the exile lands of its diaspora called Polonia. He lets himself be driven by a Polish legend, the one of Andrzej Tadeusz Bonawentura Kosciuszko that historians call the last knight or the first citizen of the world. 'Kopiec Bonawentura' examines the uncertainties of memory where photographs exist to contradict one another and to build a narrative that is elusive
