Scientists had determined excessive heating was due to the loss of a meteoroid shield and the low power supply was due to ineffective solar panel deployment. Skylab 2 would have to be a repair mission if this program were to survive. Astronauts had to perform deep-water executions to practice the repair. Thanks to planning and training, they were successful, and were able to proceed with biomedical and scientific experiments and even enjoyment of the weightlessness.
