The author explains basic ideas, concepts, and methods of generalized Borel summability, transseries, and exponential asymptotics. He provides complete mathematical rigor while supplementing it with heuristic material and examples, so that some proofs may be omitted by applications-oriented readers. To give a sense of how new methods are used in a systematic way, the book analyzes in detail general nonlinear ordinary differential equations (ODEs) near a generic irregular singular point. It enables readers to master basic techniques, supplying a firm foundation for further study at more advanced levels. The book also examines difference equations, partial differential equations (PDEs), and other types of problems. In the first part of the dissertation, we prove Borel summability in nonsingular directions of heatlike equation u_t = a(z)u_zz in the complex domain where a(z) is a quartic polynomial and the initial condition is analytic. In the special case a(z) = z we obtain the detailed resurgent structure; even in such a simple case, the structure of the singular manifolds is quite intricate. In the second part of the disseration, we provide mainly two applications of transseries and Borel summation to interesting problems such as nonelementarity of a function, and analytic factorizability of a linear operator. In the third part, we consider the dynamical system arising in submonolayer deposition model, and analyze the asymptotic behavior of the solution as t goes to infinity

In this thesis we employ new asymptotic methods to study some problems in classical analysis and mathematical physics. The first problem is finding the global behavior in the complex plane of a class of analytic functions from the Taylor coefficients. Several explicit examples are presented, from which it is clear that combined with Laplace transformation and Borel transformation, the method has great potential in analyzing the solutions of differential equations. In the second problem we use methods originating from exponential asymptotics to study a non-selfajoint spectral problem in mathematical physics. In the third problem, tronquée solutions and tritronquée solutions of the third and fourth Painlevé equation are studied using the theory of Borel summation for analytic nonlinear rank one system of ODE's, which has been studied extensively in [2], [3] and [5]

In this paper, we discuss the perturbations of the Harmonic Oscillator and Parabolic Cylinder Operators by an odd pair of point interactions. We prove that there is a convenient formula for the eigenvalues, and show that if the point interactions are purely imaginary in addition to being odd, that nonreal eigenvalues exist as the size of the perturbation grows
