Trama: Kumal e Sangha sono due cuccioli di tigre nati nella giungla indocinese. La loro infanzia trascorre tra giochi e scoperte fino a che l'uomo non arriva a rovinare l'equilibrio naturale del loro habitat. Un nutrito gruppo di persone capitanate dall'avventuriero McRory si accampa nelle vicinanze della loro tana per trafugare pezzi di statue dai templi abbandonati e, scoperta la vicinanza dei feroci animali, cerca di eliminarli. Mentre il padre mette in salvo Sangha, la madre dei cuccioli viene uccisa nell'estremo tentativo di salvare Kumal. Per i due cuccioli è arrivato il triste momento della separazione, uno verso la vita a fianco degli uomini e l'altro che ritorna nella giungla accanto al genitore. Mentre Kumal viene prima allevato da McRory, che si sente responsabile dell'animale, e poi finisce a lavorare in un circo, Sangha viene catturato insieme al padre che dovrà essere il trofeo di caccia di una importante personalità in visita nella regione. Durante la battuta di caccia il padre, colpito da una pallottola all'orecchio, riesce a fuggire mentre Sangha viene regalato al piccolo Raoul, il figlio del governatore. La natura tutt'altro che domestica della piccola tigre, però, non ci mette molto a venire alla luce, e quando Sangha sbrana il cagnolino della famiglia viene subito dato in dono a Sua Eccellenza, il sovrano dello stato. Ô in occasione di uno spettacolo di lotta tra bestie feroci che i due fratelli, ormai cresciuti, si incontrano. Mentre Kumal è un animale da circo domato e impaurito, Sangha non ha perso la sua naturale ed istintiva ferocia. Quando i due si incontrano nell'arena dove dovrebbero sbranarsi a vicenda si riconoscono, cominciano a giocare e riescono a fuggire seminando il terrore tra la folla e nella regione. All'estremo tentativo degli uomini di eliminarli, le due tigri opporranno proprio le caratteristiche sviluppate dalla convivenza con l'uomo: Sangha mostra a Kumal la via della fuga verso la giungla, mentre Kumal convincerà il fratello a saltare oltre il fuoco, gioco imparato nella gabbia del circo, verso la libertà. L'ultimo incontro con McRory e Raoul è amichevole e pacifico, poi le due tigri si allontanano nella giungla verso l'incontro con il loro padre, dall'orecchio bucato, che insegnerà loro a cacciare
