The body of knowledge in most medical specialties is rapidly expanding, making it virtually impossible to follow all advances in clinical and basic sciences that are relevant to a given field. This is particularly true in pediatric endocrinology, at the cross-road of pediatrics, endocrinology, development and genetics. Providing abstracts of articles that report the year's breakthrough developments in the basic sciences and evidence-based new knowledge in clinical research and clinical practice that are relevant to the field, the Yearbook of Pediatric Endocrinology 2010 keeps busy clinicians and scientists, pediatric endocrinologists, and also pediatricians and endocrinologists informed on new advances. L'IRM cérébrale est devenue essentielle dans l'évaluation des pathologies endocriniennes, afin de rechercher les lésions anatomiques et tumorales qui sous-tendent les désordres endocriniens. Cependant, elle peut conduire à la découverte d'anomalies hypothalamo-hypophysaires et du reste du parenchyme cérébral, dont le lien avec la pathologie est discutable voire inexistant aux vues des données actuelles.Nos objectifs étaient d'établir la prévalence des lésions causales et incidentales retrouvées dans les indications endocriniennes les plus fréquentes d'IRM cérébrale.Nous avons réalisé une étude rétrospective monocentrique basée sur l'analyse des IRM cérébrales avec coupes centrées sur l'hypophyse réalisées du 1er janvier 2007 au 31 décembre 2008 pour motif endocrinien. Parmi les 306 IRM, 60,8% montraient une anomalie, 41,2% intéressant la région hypothalamo-hypophysaire. Pour majorité, ces anomalies étaient mineures (hypoplasie anté-hypophysaire, kystes,...). Parmi les 220 patients suspects d'hypopituitarisme, 3,6% de lésions causales (post-hypophyses ectopiques) ont pu être identifiées. Parmi les 58 patients suspects de puberté précoce, seul 1 hamartome hypothalamique et 2 dilatations ventriculaires ont été rapportés (5,2% d'anomalies causales ou possiblement causales). Enfin, 104 lésions extra-hypothalamo-hypophysaires ont été identifiées dont 82 (26,8%) étaient incidentales. Trente IRM ont été contrôlées dont 26,7 % visaient à contrôler une lésion incidentale.L'IRM cérébrale pour motif endocrinien permet d'identifier une lésion causale dans 3,6% des suspicions d'hypopituitarisme mais doit rester prudente quant aux anomalies mineures et incidentales qu'elle identifie
