China-India economics : challenges, competition and collaboration by Amitendu Palit( Book )

14 editions published between 2011 and 2017 in English and held by 143 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A review of the existing literature on the China-India comparative theme conveys the distinct impression that the literature largely projects China and India as intrinsically competitive entities. While much has been written on where and why China and India are contesting, particularly from a political sense, very little attention has been devoted to mutual collaboration, whether existing or potential. Such possibilities are at their greatest in economics, which will dominate the future China-India relationship. This book explores Sino-Indian ties from a comparative economic perspective and argues that it is erroneous to visualise the ties either from exclusively competitive or collaborative perspectives. The future relationship between the two countries will be characterised simultaneously by two 'C's: competition and collaboration, which are both linked to common challenges facing them. Arguing that while competition in the economic sphere is inevitable, given their size and aspirations, the book contends that negative externalities from competition will encourage both countries to collaborate and expand the scope of such collaboration. The book's refreshing angle makes it a must-read for those interested in Sino-Indian relationship.--Publisher's website
The Trans-Pacific Partnership, China and India : economic and political implications by Amitendu Palit( Book )

The USA and eleven other countries from both sides of the Pacific are currently negotiating the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP). The agreement is expected to set new benchmark for international trade through its comprehensive coverage of issues and binding regulations. It is expected to eventually mature into a regional trade agreement covering the entire Asia-Pacific. As of now, it does not include China and India, the two largest emerging markets and regional economies. The TPP has generated controversy for its excessive emphasis on trade issues, which have remained unresolved or unaddressed

1 edition published in 2012 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The paper traces Indian policy towards land use and ownership from pre-independence times till today. It notes that land reform ⁰́₃ an ill-defined term ⁰́₃ began to disappear from political platforms and policy agendas from the 1970s and offers, as a heuristic device, four naive explanations. In dealing with each explanation, the paper exposes its inadequacy and analyzes essential features of land questions in India. The paper concludes that by the first decade of the 21st century 'land' for various socio-economic groups had become real estate ⁰́₃ a platform for people to buy, sell and build on, not a place on which to live and grow food
