Este trabajo se ha realizado a nivel teórico, numérico y experimental. Basándonos en el formalismo matricial que describe y caracteriza a los sistemas ópticos de primer orden (paraxiales), hemos logrado desarrollar un diseño óptico flexible capaz de realizar transformaciones orto-simplécticas: rotación de imágenes, transformada fraccionaria separable de Fourier (FRFT) y gyrator (GT). Estas operaciones, concretamente FRFT y GT, tienen gran importancia en procesado óptico de la información y en diferentes aplicaciones tales como: caracterización de haces, generación de modos estables, tomografía espacial de fase, etc. El sistema propuesto es flexible puesto que la operación se realiza a través de la rotación de las lentes cilíndricas delgadas que lo componen, o variando su potencia, sin necesidad de cambiar la distancia existente entre éstas. Demostramos que estas configuraciones ópticas son las que requieren el menor número de lentes, y al contrario que otros sistemas (no flexibles) no introducen (al cambiar el parámetro de transformación) factores extras de escala, de fase ni rotación en la señal transformada. Otra aportación original de este trabajo concierne al estudio de la operación GT, poco conocida por la comunidad óptica. En particular, hemos demostrado por primera vez sus principales propiedades así como aplicaciones en procesado digital de imágenes (eliminación de ruido, encriptación, etc.) y como generador óptico de modos. La implementación experimental de GT es demostrada para la transformación de modos estables Hermite-Gaussian en Laguerre-Gaussian. También proponemos y analizamos varios sistemas optrónicos basados en sistemas de primer orden para la generación interactiva de señales complejas en tiempo casi real, así como un micro-espectrómetro de Fourier basado en guías de onda SOI. Los resultados numéricos y experimentales obtenidos están en gran acuerdo con las predicciones teóricas encontradas, demostrando además tanto la versatilidad como viabilidad de todos los sistemas ópticos propuestos en este trabajo
