Deformation spaces : perspectives on algebro-geometric moduli by Hossein Abbaspour( )

24 editions published between 2002 and 2014 in English and Undetermined and held by 496 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The first instances of deformation theory were given by Kodaira and Spencer for complex structures and by Gerstenhaber for associative algebras. Since then, deformation theory has been applied as a useful tool in the study of many other mathematical structures, and even today it plays an important role in many developments of modern mathematics. This volume collects a few self-contained and peer-reviewed papers by experts which present up-to-date research topics in algebraic and motivic topology, quantum field theory, algebraic geometry, noncommutative geometry and the deformation theory of Poisson algebras. They originate from activities at the Max-Planck-Institute for Mathematics and the Hausdorff Center for Mathematics in Bonn. Contributions by Grégory Ginot, Thomas M. Fiore and Igor Kriz, Toshiro Hiranouchi and Satoshi Mochizuki, Paulo Carrillo Rouse, Donatella Iacono and Marco Manetti, John Terilla, Anne Pichereau - Researchers in the fields of deformation theory, noncommutative geometry, algebraic topology, mathematical physics - Advanced graduate students in mathematics Dr. Hossein Abbaspour, Department of Mathematics, Université de Nantes, France. Basic lie theory by Hossein Abbaspour( Book )

15 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 192 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume provides a comprehensive treatment of basic Lie theory, primarily directed toward graduate study. The text is ideal for a full graduate course in Lie groups and Lie algebras. However, the book is also very usable for a variety of other courses: a one-semester course in Lie algebras, or on Haar measure and its applications, for advanced undergraduates; or as the text for one-semester graduate courses in Lie groups and symmetric spaces of non-compact type, or in lattices in Lie groups. The material is complete and detailed enough to be used for self-study; it can also serve as a reference work for professional mathematicians working in other areas. The book's utility for such a varied readership is enhanced by a diagram showing the interdependence of the separate chapters so that individual chapters and the material they depend upon can be selected, while others can be skipped. The book incorporates many of the most significant discoveries and pioneering contributions of the masters of the subject: Borel, Cartan, Chevalley, Iwasawa, Mostow, Siegel, and Weyl, among others
Adventures in mathematics by Martin A Moskowitz( )

3 editions published in 2003 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Though elementary in nature, this book deals with fundamental issues in mathematics - number, algebra, geometry (both Euclidean and non-Euclidean) and topology. These subjects, on an advanced level, are the same ones with which much of current mathematical research is concerned and were themselves research topics of earlier periods. The material is very suitable both for advanced high school students and for college students interested in elementary mathematics from a higher standpoint. It will also be very useful to high school teachers seeking an overview of their subject matter
Iranian Foeniculum vulgare Essential Oil and Alcoholic Extracts: Chemical Composition, Antimicrobial, Antioxidant and Application in Olive Oil Preservation( )

1 edition published in 2016 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Abstract: The aim of this research was to investigate chemical compositions, antibacterial properties and in vitro and in vivo antioxidant properties of essential oil and methanol and ethanol extracts of Feoniculum vulgare. Antimicrobial properties of Feoniculum vulgare essential oil and extracts against pathogenic bacteria, fungi, and yeast were determined by agar disk diffusion and minimum inhibitory of concentration. The chemical composition of essential oil was characterized using gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results of EOs analysis indicated that there are different compounds in EO giving it different characteristics. According to the results, EO and each extracts has a different potential to inhibit the growth of microorganism. Protective effects of essential oil and methanol and ethanol extract of fennel in stabilizing olive oil were tested, compared to synthetic antioxidants, by measuring their peroxide values (PV) and p-anisidine value during accelerated storage. Results indicated that essential oil of fennel exhibited stronger antioxidant activity in olive oil than butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), while its antioxidant activity was less than that of butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT). In summary Iranian Foeniculum vulgare extract has potential application as antioxidant, antimicrobial agent in food applications
