Valeurs et correspondance( Book )

2 editions published in 2010 in French and held by 24 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

2 editions published in 2011 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The construction of linguistic resources for the manual annotation of news agency releases in the economic field is part of an information retrieval strategy, based on the analysis of content. The elements of the discursive structure (text units, semantic relations) are located thanks to linguistic markers, while taking the context into account. These markers are kept under review. They should be used to annotate other documents in the same field. Starting from these annotations, an indexation becomes possible on the basis of segments corresponding to notions of semantic or discursive order. The applications concern information retrieval, strategic surveillance, extraction of information. An evolution is anticipated towards an automatic annotation and an extension to others types of text and other fields

2 editions published in 2009 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Diasporic ethos and alienation in Anita Desai's migration fictions by Bhawana Jain( Book )

2 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Migratory movements in the second half of the twentieth century have led to the emergence of new diasporas and migrant cultures that have transformed both host societies as well as (im)migrants. This thesis introduces the concept of displacement to see how this phenomenon is propitious to newer identities that challenge the classical notions of diasporas, human relationships and cross-cultural encounters. We will show how the dilemma of be(long)ing - between one's native country and one's adopted country in a diasporic setting and rapidly changing non-diasporic settings - is challenging and fashions the 'dislocation consciousness'. The novels of Anita Desai written from the 1960s to the beginning of the twenty-first century map the displacement and diasporic themes, especially because this writer herself - being a global migrant - reflects her own experiences of appropriation, negotiation and self-refashioning as a deterritorialized individual in an alien society. This thesis will take an interdisciplinary approach (social, literary, demographic, anthropology and linguistics) to study this. We will also analyze how the dialectics of space becomes the cause of identity crisis and a sense of alienation of the human existence and how Desai's literary art presents and counters them. The focus will be also on how diasporic and non- diasporic spaces have become spaces of doubt, yearning, and possibility and how these new territories can be seen as 'mental as well as physical' spaces having a capacity to transcend the boundaries of social, political and culture during 'modernization'
The gothic child a study of the gothic novel in the British Isles (1764-1824) by Margarita Georgieva( Book )

2 editions published in 2011 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In 1908 H. James wondered about the absence of haunted children in literature. He believes that the idea is underdeveloped and decides to create a gothic amusette, the first of its kind in "a perfectly clear field". Was he right? On a first glance, gothic is not concerned with the figure of the child. Children are sometimes taken as a residue from the sentimental novel, a residue of which the real gothic novel stands free, and whenever children are present, the genre is labelled "feminine" or "domestic" gothic. Thus, some prefer to write of education and ethics when dealing with children and childhood in such novels. However, some novels set in motion childhood journeys of self-discovery and identity quests. Like the adults, these children are confronted with suffering and death. The accumulation of terrors places them in contact with an omnipresent underworld. Beings crawl out of there to haunt them, writings appear, memories emerge. Gothic children are thus places in contact with the past, with the world of the dead, and stand as symbols of the future. They represent the link between past and present and their characters evolve into more than attributes of the adult persona. The aim of this thesis is to question the presence of children in the gothic novel, to describe and analyse the portraits of children and their representation on social, political and religious level and to, finally, define the typical gothic child. The research spans different aspects of the gothic novel in order to cover as large a period as possible, to demonstrate the evolution of the child character in gothic and to stress the importance of the child within the movement

2 editions published in 2008 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

2 editions published in 2010 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

What is “intime” is located in what is dissimulated, hidden and kept secret. While “intimités” depend on the myths and on the constructions of the logos. From this statement, we suggest that the “intimités”, in their relation with constructions based upon myths and fictions, could be considered as defensive answers when we draw nearer the “intime” - a notion filed with mystery, especially when it is closed to the question of the origins. In order to distinguish “intime” and “intimités”, we have used the difference between mystical and tragical concepts. And we have established that “intime” was depending of tragic, while “intimités” depend of the myths. Man finds in the intimacies a representation of his identity. While the notion of “intime” allows a metaphoric re-presentation. This one comes as en echo towards what is strange in “my own being”. For our demonstration, we relay upon the re-presentation which is given by art (what even art is pictorial, musical or poetical). The intimate is located beyond the “intimités”, which are characteristic of the human being, in an an-historical place, which is found in the original “yes”. This sentence, always ready to be repeated, is called Bejahung. In our opinion, we can find the “intime” in this presence saying “yes”, the strangeness of which is total, and which shows that the “subject of the unconscious”. Besides, this idea coincides with the external side of the intimate, mentioned by Lacan and named by him “the extimity”. From this possible re-actualization offered by the Bejahung, we suggest to study an ethic of the intimate, characterized when the subject says “yes” to this unknown part of himself. This part of his being gives him the possibility to live intimate moments, as where time is absolute. Besides, if “intimités” depend of what can be represented, as it comes with pictorial art, “intime”, for its part, cannot be represented. Consequently, “intimités” which are specular and fantasmatic, take the form of human figure, and are defined structurally by limited contours. While “intime”, place of radical incognito, opens with unlimited
T'as de beaux restes anthropologie des pratiques de récupération alimentaire et de la circulation des aliments by Amandine Plancade( Book )

2 editions published in 2011 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

For a few years now, there have been numerous press articles and television reports dealing with scavenging practices in urban environment. People often think that these practices somewhat consist in dumpster diving. But reality tells us something quite different. Recovery practices differ from one people to another. Some glean unsold items at the end of street markets. Others ask for such items in bakeries, dive into supermarkets, grocers' and other food suppliers' dumpsters, or enjoy being given leftovers from restaurants. Thus, there are many "ways of doing things", which underlines the fact that food scavenging cannot be reduced to a mere salvaging of waste. Actually, in our cities, there are informal networks to get food from and many ways to preserve food so as to use it. At the crossroad of waste and gift Anthropology, this PHD thesis analyses the many destinies of food thrown away from stalls, shop windows and food retailers. The ethnographic fieldwork nourishes a two-step development. First, we will explore the various rehabilitating processes for such a food: sorting, cleaning, cooking and getting rid of it. Secondly, we investigate on what happens next to theses leftovers, whether they've been prepared or not

2 editions published in 2011 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The observation in the field of the clinical psychology is not approached on this work as tool of investigation but as epistemological concept except for integer. From the disciplinary use of the observation we shall try to build a concept. To operationalize it through two functions: the "function chiasmatique of the observation" and the "dit-solution" of the subject. The observation, is too often used only in its dimension of the glance. Could not she be articulated? A joint between the objective and the subjective, the subject and the object, the glance, the voice and the language. It is in this perspective that we shall try, in a search: historical, phenomenological and epistemological; to move of dominated of the object to wonder if the subject, such as the use the psychoanalysis and the clinical psychology, can be observed! Pursue this reasoning to the current and the modernity. To approach a drift pressing on the observation to limit it to the simple objective evaluation of the alive in purposes of control. A dissolution of the subject in a scientistic speech where the human fact becomes the fact of banning? Do not we go then in the field of science called "human" towards a paranoia which would tend to make society?

1 edition published in 2011 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This research explores places, names, functions and the limits of fiction in its' relation to metapsychology. As such, this work has an epistemological angle, which looks at the sources and roles of fiction in the psychoanalytical elaboration of the drive concept. The author shows that theoretical or even mythological fictions, correspond to an attempt to think the Unknown as well as to assign a place for that which escapes the realms of scientific knowledge. The drive theory is located in the very process of its' creation and in the context of the thoughts in motion. An important aspect is to show how metapsychology integrates a narrative knowledge as a myth. In this way, fiction is approached from a dynamic angle: particularly according to Freud, fiction is similar to a «second navigation» in which theory of drives can lead to myths and art. Another aspect of this research demonstrates the value of speech, of narrative knowledge and of fictive recounts in the clinic of the subject of the drive
