Missoni : art colour by Luciano Caramel( Book )

3 editions published in 2016 in Italian and English and held by 62 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Published on the occasion of the Missoni, Art, Colour exhibition, this visually rich catalogue surveys the history and inspiration behind one of the most iconic fashion houses of all time. Rosita and Ottavio Missoni launched their eponymous fashion house in the 1950s, combining art and fashion to create a unique style that is recognized all over the world. This book is both a celebration of the unmistakable Missoni style, whose innovative approach mixes color, pattern, and matter with an extraordinary sense of balance, and an exploration of works by artists who have influenced the designers over the course of their creative, cultural, and artistic journey. The book is divided into four thematic sections that describe the creative process of the Missoni house, from the sources of their inspiration to their transformation of material. It begins with "Roots," which presents the historical avant-garde in Europe, including works by Kandinsky, Klee, Balla, and Severini, and is followed by "Color, Material, and Shape," which focuses on Missoni fashion and design. "Conversations" explores Missoni's creativity in relation to Italian visual culture from the 1950s to the 1980s, and "Tapestries" reveals Ottavio Missoni's most significant works of art made of knitted patchwork""--Publisher's website

Kerouac beat painting by Museo arte Gallarate( Book )

3 editions published in 2017 in Italian and held by 22 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Kerouac : beat painting by Jack Kerouac( Book )

2 editions published in 2018 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Through a body of works previously unpublished in Italy, this book shines a new light on the pictorial and graphic activity of one of the great literary icons of the twentieth century, the American writer Jack Kerouac, father of the Beat Generation. A comparison of his literary and artistic production reveals the labyrinthine creative process that allowed his visionary perception of reality to be expressed through the media of drawing and painting as well as in writing, music, poetry and cinema. His visual arts production, undertaken in part thanks to a genuine period of "training," was informed not only by his relationship to the traditions of American visual culture and to other authors of the Beat movement (from Allen Ginsberg to William S. Burroughs), but also by his relationship with masters of Informal and New York School painting, whom he began frequenting in the mid-1950s. This monograph is divided into sections that interweave Kerouac's life and poetics with the many exceptional works presented here. Of particular interest are the author's wide-ranging references - from Proust to Breton, from portraits of famous people such as Joan Crawford, Truman Capote, Dody Muller and Cardinal Montini, to visions based on a religious syncretism incorporating Buddhism and Catholicism, to Beat culture and its representatives like Robert Frank and WIlliam S. Burroughs, and finally to Abstract Expressionism."-- Back cover
