Gio Ponti : archi-designer by Gio Ponti( Book )

1 edition published in 2018 in English and held by 130 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Regarded as one of the most influential architects and designers of the twentieth century, Gio Ponti (1891-1979) was a prolific creator, as much interested in industrial production as in handicrafts, who has revolutionised post-war architecture while opening up the prospects for a new way of life. This book covers his entire career from 1921 to 1978, highlighting the many aspects of his work, from architecture to industrial design, from furniture to lighting, from the creation of magazines to a foray into the fields of glass, ceramics and goldsmithery. More than 500 pieces trace this multi-disciplinary journey through architecture, furniture, installations for private homes or public buildings (universities, cathedrals), displaying the creative world of this legendary figure of the Italian scene, whose generosity and enthusiasm have stimulated his contemporaries and still inspire new generations of designers and architects
Anna Maria Maiolino : o amor se faz revolucionário by Anna Maria Maiolino( Book )

2 editions published in 2019 in English and held by 72 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Con oltre 400 opere, dai primissimi disegni fino alle ultime creazioni, il volume, curato da Diego Sileo, racconta per decadi una storia artistica iniziata nel primi anni Sessanta e ancora oggi attuale e fertile, in grado di influenzare molti artisti delle nuove generazioni = Drawing inspiration from the everyday female consciousness and an oppression, censorial dictatorship - as experienced from 1964 to 1984 in Brazil - Anna Maria Maiolino produces works full of vital force, which combine Italian creativity with the experimentations of the Brazilian avant-gardes in an inimitable style. Crossed by the theme of love - for her origins, her family, her adoptive homeland, her work - Maiolino's production explores human relationships and the difficulties underlying communication and expression, travelling the faint boundary between physicality and a more intimate, spiritual sphere. With a selection of over 400 works, ranging from the early drawings to the latest creations, this book, edited by Diego Sileo, illustrates the artist's journey decade by decade. This started in the 1960s and is still alive and fertile today, also through her influence on the new generations."
Sandy Skoglund by Sandy Skoglund( Book )

1 edition published in 2019 in English and held by 69 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This monograph presents the first systematic and complete examination of the career of the American artist Sandy Skoglund, from her debut in the early 1970s until the present day. A leading member of the generation that developed the concept of staged photography, Skoglund's artistic practice is characterized by her continued exploration of the relationships between sculpture, installation, and photography. Her labor-intensive settings, which often present enigmatic scenes, are informed by her enduring study of familiar places and situations, as well as her upbringing in postwar America. This publication, edited by Germano Celant, reconstructs the span of Skoglund's personal and creative life through an interweaving of biographical information and relevant historical research, and a lavish selection of the artist's works and writings, thereby making it a new and unique contribution to the literature on the artist."
Howard Kanovitz : visible difference by Howard Kanovitz( Book )

2 editions published in 2017 in German and held by 66 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In 1972 the already famous curator Harald Szeemann invited Howard Kanovitz--together with the Americans Chuck Close and Richard Estes, the British painter Malcolm Morley, the Swiss artist Franz Gertsch and the Germans Gerhard Richter and Sigmar Polke--to take part in the documenta 5 exhibition in Kassel as exponents of photography-based painting. Kanovitz also participated in documenta 6 in 1977. He was given solo shows by museums in other cities, including Utrecht, Duisburg, Berlin and Hannover. Visible Difference at the Ludwig Museum, Koblenz, is Kanovitz's first solo exhibition in a museum since 1980. It offers an opportunity to rediscover this master of Pop Art and Photorealism, to trace his artistic development through seminal works from his oeuvre, and to conduct a scholarly exploration of his artistic significance in retrospect

1 edition published in 2019 in Italian and held by 19 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Boltanski : souls : from place to place by Christian Boltanski( Book )

1 edition published in 2017 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume travels through the most important moments and crossroads in the lifetime and career of Christian Boltanski, which have led him into reflecting upon the outcome of some historical events during the twentieth century and on the need to reconsider appropriate representation methods. History, histories and the statute of the image are the fulcrum of the conversation being proposed. In particular, this conversation deals with some fundamental themes: the difference between collective memory, recollection and oblivion; relations between the individual and the crowd; the entity of absence, intended as proof of a destroyed presence, but also as device for the reactivation of memory; the incidence of an isolated glance, that of the observer, upon whose primacy the history of western art has constructed its foundations. Exhibition: MAMbo, Bologna, Italy (26.06.-12.11.2017)

Le Bosquet : la maison-atelier de Bonnard au Cannet by Véronique Serrano( Book )

1 edition published in 2016 in French and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Santiago Sierra : mea culpa by Santiago Sierra( Book )

1 edition published in 2017 in Italian and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

As the bearer of the dark truth of our time, Sierra is often stigmatised for his intense and ambiguous performances. Nevertheless, their visual language, their complex and energetic symbolism and the fact that they are plunged into the reality of people give them a rare emotional impact. The works of Sierra have been shown in important museums and institutions worldwide; in 2003, he represented Spain at the 50th Venice Biennale. The exhibition at PAC brings together for the first time the most iconic and representative political works by Santiago Sierra from the 1990s to date, together with the documentation of many of his performances over the world, new productions and reactivations of past installations and actions.00Exhibition: PAC, Milan, Italy (29.03. - 04.06.2017)
Nicolas Froment : il restauro della Resurrezione di Lazzaro = the restoration of the Resurrection of Lazarus by Marignane( Book )

1 edition published in 2017 in Italian and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In 1461, the French painter Nicolas Froment completed a triptych featuring the Resurrection of Lazarus for the bishop of Terni, Francesco Coppini, who was the papal ambassador in Flanders, France, and England. Ending up at the monastery of Bosco ai Frati in Mugello a few years later, the painting is one of the oldest altarpieces influenced by Flemish culture in Florentine territory, and is today one of the most important exemplars of non-Italian fifteenth-century painting in the Uffizi Gallery. This volume gathers the results of its recently completed restoration and offers new research on the career of Nicolas Froment and on his patron, originally from Prato, whose ambition was his downfall

Dessiner une Renaissance : dessins italiens de Besançon (XVe > XVIe siècles) by Besançon (France)( Book )

1 edition published in 2018 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
