A short history of the West Indies by J. H Parry( Book )

99 editions published between 1956 and 1994 in 4 languages and held by 2,067 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Since the first publication of 'A Short History of the West Indies', major political changes have taken place in the Caribbean area. The Trujillo regime in the Dominican Republic ended in assassination. In Cuba, a drastic change of government was brought about by armed revolution. The Federation of the British West Indies broke up, and Jamaica and Trinidad became independent states. The second edition contains a brief account of these changes, and traces the story down to the summer of 1962: the eve of the discovery by the United States of Russian missile bases in Cuba, which brought the West Indies once again to the forefront of the international scene."--Author's note, p. viii
