In 1914, Freud wrote in On the History of the Psycho-Analytic Movement: "Hungary, so near geographically to Austria, and so far from it scientifically, has produced only one collaborator, Sandor Ferenczi, but one that indeed outweighs a whole society". Sandor Ferenczi, one of Freud's first disciples, established the study of psychoanalysis in Hungary and went on to make contributions of his own to many aspects of the subject, including study of the personality, the psychopathology of neurosis, therapeutic techniques, and psychoanalytic theory. In Thalassa, Ferenczi expands the symbols of the pha

Includes "Confusion of Tongues Between Children and Adults" in which Ferenczi formulates his controversal ideas on childhood sexuality, and the conflict between the languages of tenderness and passion. This volume, first published in 1955, presents papers written by Ferenczi during his last years and some of his unpublished notes. It demonstrates Ferenczi's combination of great clinical understanding and an almost uncanny insight into unconscious process. Among the forty important items included are papers on the following: "Freud's Influence on Medicine", "Laughter", "Epileptic Fits", "Dirigi

The development of psycho-analysis by Sándor Ferenczi( Book )

23 editions published between 1925 and 2007 in English and held by 248 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book offers an opportunity for practicing analysts to see the development of analytic technique and the special angles of two of its most successful practitioners. The book was written in the summer of 1922, somewhat modified and altered by the events of the International Psycho-analytical Congress, held in Berlin in September of that year, and completed in 1923. The authors apologize for some of the deficiencies of structure on account of this history of its origin. The critical part of the work was originally written by Dr. Ferenczi, the didactic chapter "The Analytical Situation" by Dr. Rank and the work then jointly revised. As will be seen from the above, the book is intended primarily for practicing analysts and will appeal only to serious students of psycho-analysis. Contributions to psycho-analysis by Sándor Ferenczi( Book )

21 editions published between 1916 and 2009 in English and held by 117 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Dr. Ferenczi is known as one of the leading exponents of psycho-analysis, and, apart, of course, from Professor Freud, has perhaps made more original contributions than anyone else to that subject. Of the papers compiled in this book, only two, forming Chapters I and III, were written from the point of view of popular exposition; the others are all of a more technical and advanced nature, being addressed to an audience already familiar with psycho-analytical principles. Topics addressed in these papers include analytic interpretation, introjection and transference, obscene words, homosexuality, paranoia, onanism, stages in the development of the sense of reality, symbolism, and interest in money."
