Cytogenetics of cells in culture by R. J. C Harris( Book )

22 editions published between 1964 and 2014 in English and held by 487 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Cytogenetics of Cells in Culture documents the proceedings of a symposium that aimed to not only establish guideposts to the direction of the most recent progress in the rapidly developing field of cybegenetics, but to cross-pollinate, in the best Mendelian tradition, the thinking of widely recognized leaders in this field with the current ideas of their colleagues, within the intimacy of this small meeting. The contributors to this symposium emphasized (1) new techniques to detect patterns of DNA replication, to better understand cellular control mechanisms, and to perform chromosome analyses

Biological organization at the cellular and supercellular level; a symposium held at Varenna, 24-27 September, 1962, under the auspices of UNESCO by R. J. C Harris( Book )

23 editions published between 1962 and 1963 in English and held by 395 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Biological Organization at the Cellular and Supercellular Level provides information on some of the most intriguing problems of cell biology. This book discusses the models for gene function as well as the simple mechanisms found in bacteria. Organized into 14 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the model for the regulation of DNA replication. This text then examines the specific properties of an organism, which arise from its catalytic constitution. Other chapters consider the experiments to test whether enzyme induction is accompanied by an increase in the rate of synthesis of the

The downward displacement in stomach cancer mortality among Japanese migrants to the United States and their descendants provides an opportunity to see whether the changes in risk can be associated with changes in customs, occupation or other environmental exposures traceable to migration. Case control studies in two prefectures of Japan and in Hawaii and California undertaken with this objective in mind are described. Some preliminary results from interviewing in Miyagi prefecture on the association of selected items of diet with stomach cancer are presented and discussed.
