Linear programming by
George B Dantzig(

)
92 editions published between 1899 and 2013 in 3 languages and held by 295 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
From its inception Linear Programming was envisioned as being applied to large detailed dynamic models of economic and industrial systems. Difficulties of obtaining input data, making use of detailed output data, and the cost of computation have in the past limited applications. Three types of approaches have been proposed for efficient computation. These are reviewed in terms of typical matrix structures to which they are applicable. A list of 128 references is appended. 2 editions published in 1966 in English and held by 19 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
This memorandum obtains necessary and sufficient conditions so that the solution of a constrained minimization problem will vary continuously when the constraints and objective function are varied. It also obtains special results in the case that the constraints are linear inequalities. (Author)

From the Preface: "The preparation of this book started in 2004, when George B. Dantzig and I, following a longstanding invitation by Fred Hillier to contribute a volume to his "International Series in Operations Research and Management Science", decided finally to go ahead with editing a volume on stochastic programming. The field of stochastic programming (also referred to as optimization under uncertainty or planning under uncertainty) had advanced significantly in the last two decades, both theoretically and in practice. Comments on J. Von Neumann's "The problem of optimal assignment in a twoperson game" by
George B Dantzig(
Book
)
3 editions published in 1952 in English and held by 11 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
Certain arguments in J. von Neumann's paper reducing the optimal assignment problem to a twoperson game can be simplified. A simple observation produces a proof that all vertices of the convex of solutions (or a related continuous problem) are permutations; hence, admissible solutions to the original combinatorial problem. (This is a modification of the author's proof that optimal solution to the transportation problem is integral if the row and column totals are integers.) The present proof depends on a wellknown and easily verified theorem that the vertex of a convex defined by mlinear equations in nnonnegative variables (considered as a point in R sub N) has at most m positive components. )
4 editions published in 2003 in English and held by 5 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"George B. Dantzig, widely known as the father of linear programming, has been a major influence in mathematics, operations research, and economics. The 24 chapters of this volume highlight the amazing breadth and enduring influence of Dantzig's research. Short, nontechnical summaries at the opening of each part of the book introduce a specific research area and discuss the current significance of Dantzig's work in that field. Among the topics covered are mathematical statistics, the Simplex Method of linear programming, economic modeling, network optimization, and nonlinear programming. The book also includes a complete bibliography of Dantzig's writings."Jacket
