"The Heritage Places Strategic Plan establishes Council's objectives for the management of places which are in Council's care and whose predominant significance is their heritage. The Strategic Plan has been prepared in consultation with community groups and with Council's Heritage Places Advisory Committee which identified thirteen areas of community land as heritage places. These places are: Civic Precinct (comprising Civic Park, Church Walk Park and Christie Place), King Edward Park, Gregson Park (including the triangle road reserve at Tudor Street), Fort Scratchley, Nobbys Headland, Merewether Baths, Newcastle Ocean Baths, Cathedral Park, Islington Park, Convict Lumber Yard, Lambton Park, Centennial Park and Wallsend Park (excluding Upper Reserve). Part I of this document sets out Council's vision for these heritage places and guiding principles for their management. Council's overall objectives, broad strategies and priorities for action are also listed. Part II of this document details the heritage significance and current uses of each of the thirteen heritage places. It also identifies specific issues to be addressed at each location and the actions to be undertaken in the relevant individual Plan of Management."--Introd

State of the environment report by Newcastle (N.S.W.) ( )
in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"State of the Environment (SOE) reporting is an annual requirement of Councils under the NSW Local Government Act 1993. It is a valuable tool for local government in environmental management and education. It also provides the community with an account of the activities of Council, Government, industry, and the community in managing the environment. The format of this report repeats that established by Council over the past several years. The State Pressure Response model provides for a description of the current state of the environmental issue, the pressures resulting from human activity, and the responses that have been made"--Introd
