Pedro Cieza de Le&#243;n (Llerena, 1520-Sevilla, 1554). Espa&#241;a. Fue conquistador y cronista e historiador del Per&#250;. Escribi&#243; una Cr&#243;nica del Per&#250; en tres partes, de las que solo la primera se public&#243; en vida de su autor, quedando in&#233;ditas las otras dos hasta los siglos XIX y XX. En Cartagena de Indias particip&#243; en expediciones, fundaciones, encomiendas gubernamentales y otros cargos, aunque su obra principal es la cr&#243;nica y el ambicioso proyecto de una historia del Per&#250;. Hacia 1548 Cieza se estableci&#243; en la Ciudad de los Reyes (actual Lima) y all&#237; empez&#243; a escribir sus cr&#243;nicas del Nuevo Mundo. Durante los dos a&#241;os siguientes recorri&#243; el Per&#250; y compil&#243; cuantiosa informaci&#243;n para su obra. Regres&#243; a Espa&#241;a en 1551 y se cas&#243; en Sevilla con una mujer llamada Isabel L&#243;pez. En esta ciudad public&#243; en 1553 la Primera parte de la cr&#243;nica del Per&#250;. Muri&#243; al a&#241;o siguiente dejando una obra in&#233;dita que fue publicada en 1871, bajo el t&#237;tulo de Segunda parte de la cr&#243;nica del Per&#250;, que trata del se&#241;or&#237;o de los incas yupangueis y de sus grandes hechos y gobernaci&#243;n. En 1909 se public&#243; la tercera parte de sus cr&#243;nicas con el t&#237;tulo de Tercer libro de las guerras civiles del Per&#250;, el cual se llama la guerra de Quito. Aunque su obra es hist&#243;rica, y narra los acontecimientos de la conquista, y de las guerras entre los espa&#241;oles, su mayor inter&#233;s radica en la profundidad con que describe la geograf&#237;a, etnograf&#237;a, flora y fauna aut&#243;ctonas
