Guidelines for development of public transportation facilities and equipment management systems by Parsons Brinkerhoff Quade & Douglas( Book )

4 editions published in 1995 in English and Undetermined and held by 149 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This report documents and presents the research approach used in the development of the guidelines for the Public Transportation Facilities and Equipment Management System (PTMS). The research agency conducted a representative survey of stakeholders who are involved in developing a PTMS in various states, and combined this information with the latest advances in facilities management systems to develop a set of guidelines appropriate to states and transit agencies of all modes and scales. A step by step procedure for developing a PTMS is outlined in the guidelines, along with additional industry sources for measures and standards, and examples of analytical methods for evaluating the data collected

Estimating the benefits and costs of public transit projects : a guidebook for practitioners by Ltd ECO Northwest( Book )

1 edition published in 2002 in English and held by 140 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This report provides a valuable resource for people who have the difficult and often cumbersome responsibility of analyzing the benefits and costs of public transportation services and presenting the results of these analyses to decisionmakers, the media, and the public. Section I explains how to use the guidebook and provides an overview of benefit-cost evaluation concepts and their application to transit projects. Section II addresses the basic benefits and costs of transit projects, including impacts on travel, secondary impacts on the environment and safety, and the direct costs and revenues of transit projects. Section III discusses other benefits and costs of transit projects, including impacts on land use and land development, economic impacts, and the distribution of impacts. Section IV provides an example with sample analyses. Section V consists of four appendices that provide a bibliography, integrated models for conducting comprehensive benefit-cost analysis, sample calculations, and conversion factors for calculating constant dollars

Transportation security by Brinckerhoff, Quade & Douglas Parsons( Book )

5 editions published in 2006 in English and held by 96 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This twelfth volume of both NCHRP Report 525: Surface Transportation Security and TCRP Report 86: Public Transportation Security is designed to provide transportation tunnel owners and operators with guidelines for protecting their tunnels by minimizing the damage potential from extreme events such that, if damaged, they may be returned to full functionality in relatively short periods. This report will be of interest to tunnel authorities, state and local transportation departments, other agencies responsible for tunnel operation and maintenance, enforcement personnel and first responders responsible for tunnel safety and security, and tunnel designers. The objective of Volume 12: Making Transportation Tunnels Safe and Secure is to provide safety and security guidelines for owners and operators of transportation tunnels to use in identifying (1) principal vulnerabilities of tunnels to various hazards and threats; (2) potential physical countermeasures; (3) potential operational countermeasures; and (4) deployable, integrated systems for emergency-related command, control, communications, and information. These guidelines were developed jointly under TCRP and NCHRP. They are appropriate for all modes of transportation
