Topological dynamics, an international symposium by Joseph Auslander( Book )

5 editions published in 1968 in English and held by 366 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In August 1967, a symposium on topological dynamics was held at Colorado State University. Over seventy mathematicians from the United States and several foreign countries - England, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Mexico - participated. This volume consists of papers presented at the symposium. Included are invited addresses, mainly of an expository nature, by a number of distinguished mathematicians, as well as contributed papers, in which a number of new results are presented. In addition to topological dynamics, these papers relate to ergodic theory, ordinary differential equations, almost periodic functions, differential geometry, differential topology and topological spaces. Defect-band emission photoluminescence imaging on multi-crystalline Si solar cells : preprint( )

1 edition published in 2011 in English and held by 254 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Defect-band photoluminescence (PL) imaging with an InGaAs camera was applied to multicrystalline silicon (mc-Si) wafers, which were taken from different heights of different Si bricks. Neighboring wafers were picked at six different processing steps, from as-cut to post-metallization. By using different cut-off filters, we were able to separate the band-to-band emission images from the defect-band emission images. On the defect-band emission images, the bright regions that originate from the grain boundaries and defect clusters were extracted from the PL images. The area fraction percentage of these regions at various processing stages shows a correlation with the final cell electrical parameters
Imaging study of multi-crystalline silicon wafers throughout the manufacturing process : preprint( )

1 edition published in 2011 in English and held by 254 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Imaging techniques are applied to multi-crystalline silicon bricks, wafers at various process steps, and finished solar cells. Photoluminescence (PL) imaging is used to characterize defects and material quality on bricks and wafers. Defect regions within the wafers are influenced by brick position within an ingot and height within the brick. The defect areas in as-cut wafers are compared to imaging results from reverse-bias electroluminescence and dark lock-in thermography and cell parameters of near-neighbor finished cells. Defect areas are also characterized by defect band emissions. The defect areas measured by these techniques on as-cut wafers are shown to correlate to finished cell performance

Best practices in nutrition education for low-income audiences by Susan Baker( )

1 edition published in 2014 in English and held by 216 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) identified a need for a comprehensive set of best practices in nutrition education for low-income audiences for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) educational projects, including SNAP-Ed. A comprehensive list of best practices would promote consistency and efficacy in program planning, implementation, and evaluation. In addition, the use of best practices increases confidence that education efforts will result in positive nutrition and health-related behavior changes. Colorado State University (CSU) researchers were charged with identifying best practices, and then involved an expert panel. Seven panel members were chosen based on their experience with nutrition education of low-income populations as program leaders, program implementers, and researchers at universities and public health organizations. Best practices were also substantiated from a review of the research literature. Twenty-eight best practices within five domains were identified, recognizing that nutrition education is most effective when delivered through multiple levels of the Social-Ecological Model. These best practices are appropriate for both direct and indirect delivery of nutrition education to both adult and youth audiences. The expert panel also identified potential data sources to be used by nutrition educators to determine if and to what extent their programs are including best practices. Links to resources are also included for additional information and self-study. In addition to resources, case studies of selected low-income nutrition education programs are included as real-world examples of planning, implementing, and evaluating specific best practices. This resource can be used as a self-assessment tool to identify both program strengths and areas for improvement to better align programs with best practices. Additionally, this resource may serve as a guide for future educator training topics, or as a tool for strategic and long-term program planning. As more programs successfully implement and use these best practices, fidelity and efficacy of nutrition education improves. Best practices are not limited for use by program leaders, but may also be used by managers and outside evaluators at local, state, and national levels, state SNAP agencies, FNS at a regional and national level, and other low-income nutrition education programs
Numerical simulation of ion thruster optics by Cody C Farnell( )

1 edition published in 2003 in English and held by 212 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A three-dimensional simulation code (ffx) designed to analyze ion thruster optics is described. It is an extension of an earlier code and includes special features like the ability to model a wide range of grid geometries, cusp details, and mis-aligned aperture pairs to name a few. However, the principle reason for advancing the code was in the study of ion optics erosion. Ground based testing of ion thruster optics, essential to the understanding of the processes of grid erosion, can be time consuming and costly. Simulation codes that can accurately predict grid lifetimes and the physical mechanisms of grid erosion can be of great utility in the development of future ion thruster optics designed for more ambitious applications. Results of simulations are presented that describe wear profiles for several standard and nonstandard aperture geometries, such as those grid sets with square- or slotted-hole layout patterns. The goal of this paper will be to introduce the methods employed in the ffx code and to briefly demonstrate their use
