"The story of a beautiful Southern belle desperately determined to become a great ballerina ... of her violent, passionate marriage to a famous artist, her love affair with a young French aviator on the Riviera ... of wild parties, drunken brawls, insane escapades, the dissolute, destructive pleasures that gutted the lives of the most famous couple of the flaming twenties, as one headed toward alcoholism, the other toward madness ..."--Page 4 of cover

"Through his alcoholism and her mental illness, his career lows and her institutional confinement, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald's devotion to each other endured for more than twenty-two years. Here now, for the first time, is the story of their love in the couple's own letters. Dear Scott, Dearest Zelda consists of more than 75 percent previously unpublished or out-of-print letters as well as extensive narrative on the Fitzgeralds' marriage by the noted Fitzgerald scholars Jackson R. Bryer and Cathy W. Barks. The letters are introduced with revealing exposition, and intimate photographs are interspersed throughout, illuminating the words and lives of this impassioned and talented couple."--Jacket
The collected writings of Zelda Fitzgerald by Zelda Fitzgerald( Book )

"This comprehensive collection of Zelda Fitzgerald's work puts the Jazz-Age heroine in illuminating literary perspective. The volume includes Zelda's only published novel, Save Me the Waltz, an autobiographical account of the Fitzgeralds' adventures in Paris and on the Riviera; her celebrated farce, Scandalabra, eleven short stories; twelve articles; and the letters she wrote to her husband over the span of their courtship and marriage, revealing the couple's loving and turbulent relationship. The Collected Writings affirms Zelda Fitzgerald's place as a writer and as a symbol not only of the Lost Generation but of all generations as she struggled to define herself through her art."--Jacket

Zelda, an illustrated life : the private world of Zelda Fitzgerald by Zelda Fitzgerald( Book )

2 editions published in 1996 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In addition to tracing Zelda Fitzgerald's personal history, this is the first book to focus extensively on her creative achievement, her painting in particular, on which she concentrated in the last fourteen years of her life. Although many of her works were lost and others were burned after her death by a jealous sister, Zelda's daughter, Scottie, saved more than 100. That legacy forms the basis of this book, which reproduces 80 of her best paintings. They range over a variety of themes: figures, landscapes, cityscapes, flower still lifes, and biblical tableaux. In addition, there are vivid fairy-tale paintings made for Scottie, and a group of intricate and beautiful paper-doll constructions created for her grandson late in her life. Also dating from that last decade, before her tragic death at the age of forty-eight in a hospital fire in North Carolina, is a group of fanciful cityscapes that portray her travels with Scott twenty years earlier

The romantic egoists : [Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald] by Matthew J Bruccoli( Book )

1 edition published in 1984 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

"In a unique way this book gives Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald's own story. The variety is surprising: Fitzgerald's thoughts about his early loves in St. Paul, Minnesota; a photograph of the country club in Montgomery, Alabama, where the two met, reviews of This Side of Paradise; poems to the couple from Ring Lardner; snapshots of their trips abroad; Fitzgerald's careful accounting of his earnings; a photograph of the house on Long Island where The Great Gatsby was conceived; postcards with Fitzgerald's drawings for his daughter. These rare photos and memorabilia combine into a narrative augmented by selections from Scott's and Zelda's own writings, conveying the spirit of particular moments in their lives."--Jacket
