Martha Dandridge was born in Virginia in 1731, the eldest child of Colonel John and Frances Jones Dandridge. She married Daniel Parke Custis in 1749 in New Kent County, Virginia. They had four children; two died in early childhood. Mr. Custis died in 1757. She married George Washington in 1759. She died in 1802

"Thomas Wharton, who emigrated to Pennsylvania at an early date, was the son of Richard Wharton of Kellorth, in the Parish of Orton (or Overton), Westmorelandshire, England. His parents were members of the Church of England, and on the 16th of October, 1664, he was baptized in All Saints Church, Orton."--Page [7]. He later became affiliated with the Society of Friends. He married Rachel Thomas on 20 January 1688-9 at the Bank Meeting House in Philadelphia. She was born 1 September 1664 in Monmouthshire, Wales. Thomas died 31 July 1718. Rachel died 10 June 1747. Both died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in Pennsylvania
