Poland : painting of the fifteenth century by Unesco( Book )

6 editions published in 1964 in English and held by 466 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A collection of Polish paintings over the fifteenth century which reflects the intermingling of the past, present and future-oriented trends which were curent in Europe and which, in the treatment of the apparently unchangeable themes of Chrstianity, represented the trial of the three main ways in which art can approprach the phenomena of the world: searching to idealizing them in accordance with a scale of values or intellectual principles; faithfully recording them as seen by the eye; or giving them an entirely new aspect of bringing out the intense subjective perceptions of the soul
L'art et l'âme by René Huyghe( Book )

33 editions published between 1960 and 1980 in 4 languages and held by 335 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
