Since 1983, five State high schools in the Brisbane South Region have cooperated in a cluster group project to provide an enriched curriculum for 50 selected Year 9 gifted and talented students. An evaluation of the initiative was conducted in 1983. The evaluation reports on the nature and scope of the project, the evaluation approach adopted, selection of students, the characteristics and learning settings for the enrichment units and the impact of the program on students, teachers and administrators. Overall indications from the evaluation were that the project was a success with no major negative outcomes apparent. As a result, with incorporation of two suggested modifications, the model adopted in the project is recommended as being appropriate for other locations
