The OCLC Research WorldCat Identities project is ending. The work provided valuable insight into how to mine bibliographic data for insight into the People and Organizations that create and serve as subjects library materials. The findings demonstrated the power of data mining over the world’s largest set of bibliographic metadata and highlighted the value of collaborative collective cataloging. The WorldCat Identities data has positively impacted OCLC’s work to build the WorldCat Entities application and the 150 million Person and Work descriptions accessible through it. This work will continue to build our entity ecosystem to support the future knowledge work of librarians.

The WorldCat Identities web application will be retired and shut down in the coming months and the data is no longer being updated. The most recent version of the data is from July of 2022. As OCLC continues to build out the WorldCat Entities ecosystem, please use it as a source for persistent Person identifiers. https://id.oclc.org/worldcat/entity

The seeress of Prevorst; being revelations concerning the inner-life of man, and the inter-diffusion of a world of spirits in the one we inhabit by Justinus Andreas Christian Kerner( Book )

165 editions published between 1829 and 2016 in 4 languages and held by 761 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Friederike Hauffe (1801-1829) suffered throughout her short lifetime from severe spasms and nervous fevers, and in her semi-conscious state she allegedly saw spectres and spoke and wrote predictions in an unknown, 'innate' language. When physically well, Hauffe could communicate with spectres of the dead, and created a complex diagram of circles to explain the nervous energy of a person and its changes throughout the year. The flow of consciousness and one's waking state in the spirit world, or 'sun sphere', was individual and seasonal. After continued illness, she was finally taken into the care of Dr Justinus Kerner for the last few years of her life. His use of magnetic treatment apparently gave her some relief, and she was able to use her 'spiritual sight' to aid others. Kerner's 1829 account of her life, depicting a woman with unusual psychic gifts, was published in English translation in 1845

The Swabian German Romantic poet, medical doctor, scientist, and investigator of parapsychological phenomena Justinus Kerner (1786-1862) has long been celebrated as one of the leading intellectuals of his time. His renowned study of a local clairvoyant, Die Seherin von Prevorst [The Seeress of Prevorst] (1829), was translated into English as early as 1845 by the English writer, Catherine Crowe. Encouraged by the Romantic interest in childhood, Kerner in later life wrote a book of youthful reminiscences under the title Bilderbuch aus meiner Knabenzeit [Sketches from My Boyhood] (1849). Inspired by such well-known memoirs of youth as Goethe's Dichtung und Wahrheit [Poetry and Truth] and Jung-Stilling's Heinrich Stillings Leben [The Life of Heinrich Stilling], Kerner's Sketches is a much shorter, more modest account of his boyhood years in the Duchy (then Kingdom) of Württemberg. Consisting of eighty-six loosely related sketches, or vignettes, Sketches from My Boyhood is a vivid, charming, often entertaining, sometimes serious, narrative of growing up in, above all, Ludwigsburg, the site of the magnificent Ludwigsburg Palace. Although emphasizing primarily the personal facets of his early life, Kerner does not ignore the ever-present reality of the French Revolution and its impact on such German states as Württemberg. Sketches from My Boyhood merits its recognition as a gem of nineteenth-century German autobiographical writing
