"This thoroughly revised Second Edition of a perennial favorite in the Norton Critical Editions series, energized by recent scholarly discoveries and new links to the William Blake Archive (blakearchive.org) and other online resources, maintains its predecessor's emphasis on the visual and verbal artistry of Blake's self-published works in illuminated printing. The new edition features more than a hundred designs, sixteen in color; freshly annotated and re-edited complete texts of the illuminated books, now including the full text of Jerusalem; and a generous selection of Blake's other writings, inviting both novice and advanced readers to explore the amazing range of his achievement as a poet and thinker" "An expanded "Criticism" section presents twenty appraisals of Blake's work from his own time to the present. New to "Comments by Contemporaries" is Robert Hunt's devastating review of Blake's one-artist show in 1809, to which Blake responded with vitriolic epigrams and the creation of a major villain in Jerusalem." "Also included are an Introduction, a guide to Key Terms, a discussion of Textual Technicalities, a chronology of Blake's Life and Times, a Selected Bibliography, three maps, an Index of Sources, and an Index of Titles and First Lines."--Jacket

1:1 laptop experience and high-stakes testing : effects on eighth-grade student achievement by Mary Lynn Johnson( )

1 edition published in 2016 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Research on 1:1 laptop implementations is missing key information about student achievement on high-stakes assessment. This post hoc, quasi-experimental, quantitative study explores how 1:1 laptop access affects student achievement on the mandated eighth-grade online science assessment in five Mississippi school districts throughout the state. Fifth-grade science assessment results are used as a baseline for student achievement. Three research questions examined mean scale scores on the science assessment, change in scores from fifth to eighth-grade, and the effect on scale scores as the duration of the 1:1 laptop implementation increased. Two of the three experimental districts showed a significant difference in the mean scale scores. All three experimental districts showed statistically significant change in scale scores from fifth to eighth-grade. However, one of the control districts had higher scale scores than the comparable experimental district. Because of the mixed finding among the school districts, additional research should be conducted. Helpful information is provided for school administrators who are considering a 1:1 laptop implementation for their schools

Cognitive Attainment of Learners of Student Teachers Across Two Units of Study by Mary Lynn Johnson( Book )

1 edition published in 1982 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Research was conducted among 82 secondary level student teachers to determine whether teacher candidate effectiveness is related to learners' cognitive attainment levels. The quantitative difference in the number of objectives achieved by over 6,000 learners in 2 units taught by student teachers was examined over 5 semesters. The student teachers were supervised by 5 university supervisors and 57 classroom supervisors from 12 schools. Two rating scales were used by the university supervisors to rate the student teachers: an evaluation profile of instructional skills and a checklist for curriculum context. Student teachers completed two self-evaluation instruments and developed criterion-referenced tests to provide learner achievement data from their pupils. The findings indicated that there were no sizable differences in the percentage of objectives achieved across the two units taught by the student teachers. Tables are provided giving the percent of total objectives achieved by learners, the number of instructional periods used by student teachers for the two units, and the time devoted to teaching each unit.
