Missa solemnis by
Ludwig van Beethoven(
)
12 editions published between 1995 and 2012 in Latin and held by 909 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The performances of the Missa solemnis at the Styriarte Festival in Graz and at the Salzburg Festival in summer 2015 were Nikolaus Harnoncourt's last concerts. After his retirement from the stage later that year, it was Mr. Harnoncourt's express wish that this album, made from the material captured at the Graz concerts and rehearsals, also be his last released recordings. Beethoven's late masterpiece has thus become the final chapter of an unparalleled discography spanning 65 years

Die Schöpfung = The creation by
Joseph Haydn(
)
26 editions published between 1980 and 2015 in 3 languages and held by 581 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"This marvellous recording, sung in German, comes as a surprise, since Bernard Haitink is not obviously associated with Haydn. In fact he didn't tackle The Creation until 2011, when he was 82. He approaches this great choral masterpiece with wit, unhurried grandeur, riveting orchestral detail and forward momentum - in short, with just the acuity he brings to anything he conducts. (....) Gabriel (soprano Camilla Tilling), Uriel (tenor Mark Padmore), and Raphael (bass Hanno Müller-Brachmann). Choir, orchestra and soloists are on sparkling form in this live recording - an invigorating reminder, if any were needed, of Haydn's genius" (The Guardian)

Johannes-Passion = St. John Passion : BWV 245 by
Johann Sebastian Bach(
)
16 editions published between 1988 and 2001 in 3 languages and held by 361 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"The foundations of Marc Minkowski's career lie in Baroque music, and he has enjoyed a long relationship with Warner Classics, but this Johannes-Passion (St John Passion) is his first Bach for the label. The work's terse drama--here presented through just nine singers--is ideally suited to both his scrupulous musicianship and his keen sense of theatre. The French conductor describes Bach's great masterpieces as 'a journey you have to prepare for meticulously, over a long period of time. You come back from it like an explorer comes back from Everest or the moon--transformed'"--Warnerclassics.com

Szenen aus Goethes Faust by
Robert Schumann(
)
9 editions published in 1998 in German and Undetermined and held by 359 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
