Matheus Rocha Pitta : aos vencedores as batatas by Matheus Rocha Pitta( Book )

3 editions published in 2017 in German and English and held by 46 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Salwa Aleryani - Intending probability by Salwa Aleryani( Book )

3 editions published in 2017 in English and held by 39 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The sculptures and installations by Salwa Aleryani, born 1982 in Yemen, prompt a vast range of associations in the viewer. Her works are evocative of arte povera, then again of American minimal art, but defy any categorisation. The artist places strong emphasis on the material which is of fundamental importance to her. In general, she uses basic everyday materials and devices available in any hardware store, thus always conjuring up the objects normally made from these materials. Although the shapes she creates essentially remain abstract, they nevertheless trigger memories of streets, buildings, cities?situations we encounter in public places day in, day out. 0By intentionally giving her works an imperfect, unfinished look, Aleryani refers to the production process and at the same time to the decay of all things. Does the result satisfy expectations, will it last? Even if her works inevitably seem of the war-ridden towns of her native country, this is merely suggested, it never becomes specific. Aleryani provides no direct clues and ultimately creates universally valid images. 0 0Exhibition: Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Berlin, Germany (27.05.2016-19.06.2016)
What is modern art? : introductory series to the modern art( Book )

7 editions published in 2006 in English and held by 36 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The exhibition What is Modern Art? (Group Show) shows wide-ranging research into art history - not on the basis of old masters and originals, but on that of anonymity and the copy. It gathers together a series of works and projects that could be regarded as milestones on the road to an art form for which anonymity and copying have become an independent aesthetic method. What is Modern Art? (Group Show) is the first exhibition worldwide to bring together these projects for a comprehensive group exhibition in Künstlerhaus Bethanien, Galerie 35 and the Museum of American Art in Berlin. In the Künstlerhaus, it will be possible to see work including the series Collection of Drawings of an Art Amateur Made on his Travels through a Mysterious and Faraway Land (1900), Modern Art from the Museum Folkwang (Hagen 1904) and From the Autobiography of Alice B. Toklas (1905-1913); these are all works by the Salon de Fleurus (New York), which investigates 19th or early 20th century art. In addition, we will be showing the extensive International Exhibition of Modern Art (Armory Show) and the Last Futurist Exhibition 0,10 by Kasimir Malevich - two significant exhibitions for 20th century art, which took place in 1913 and 1916, in the USA and Russia respectively. Besides this it will be possible to see new works from the Museum of American Art, opened in Berlin in 2004, which specifically concern the documenta 2 (1959)
