Más autonomía e interés tiene el Concierto para violín, pieza virtuosa al estilo decimonónico. Hay mucho lirismo en sus dos primeros movimientos, que Elmar Oliveira explota con sabiduría y musicalidad. La versión de Slatkin de las obras orquestales es minuciosa y original. El Adagio suena lentísimo, que es lo suyo, la curva de tensión asciende con suavidad y alcanza el clímax con notable precisión. Muy bien la Sinfónica de Saint Louis
