266 editions published between 1955 and 2018 in 19 languages and held by 7,071 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
In this inimitable, beloved classic -- graceful, lucid and lyrical -- Anne Morrow Lindbergh shares her meditations on youth and age; love and marriage; peace, solitude and contentment as she set them down during a brief vacation by the sea. Drawing inspiration from the shells on the shore, Lindberghʹs musings on the shape of a womanʹs life bring new understanding to both men and women at any stage of life. A mother of five, an acclaimed writer and a pioneering aviator, Lindbergh casts an unsentimental eye on the trappings of modernity that threaten to overwhelm us: the time-saving gadgets that complicate rather than simplify, the multiple commitments that take us from our families. And by recording her thoughts during a brief escape from everyday demands, she helps readers find a space for contemplation and creativity within their own lives

Selections from Gift from the sea by
Anne Morrow Lindbergh(
Book
)
5 editions published in 1967 in English and held by 108 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"The setting of this book is the sea-shore. On vacation there, living a deliberately simplified life, Mrs. Lindbergh discovers that the sea has gifts to give al who find their daily lives too busy, too hurried, too unharmonious. She seeks--from the shells, the sea creatures, the sure pattern of the tides--an order that can reveal the values of the inner life. Finding that order, she shares her insights in graceful prose that flows like unrhymed poetry. Gift from the Sea is already recognized as a classic work or inspirational thought. The selections in this special edition compress the most vital statements from the original book." --Dust jacket

Oblique views : aerial photography and Southwest archaeology by
Charles A Lindbergh(
Book
)
2 editions published in 2015 in English and held by 90 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"In 1927, the year that Charles A. Lindbergh crossed the Atlantic Ocean, another revolution was happening on the ground. A group of young archaeologists was forging an area of study centered on the ancient Southwest. Aviation and archaeology merged when Alfred V. Kidder of the Carnegie Institution hired Lindbergh to photograph the sites from an airplane. Lindbergh's aerial survey of the Four Corners and Upper Rio Grande, made with Anne Morrow Lindbergh at the controls and, possibly, photographing some of the sites, were the first low-angle views of the vast, interconnected ancient landscape. The Lindbergh documentation of the sites remains a valuable historic record of the northern Southwest plateau. Ninety years later, noted aerial photographer Adriel Heisey has been commissioned by Archaeology Southwest, an organization dedicated to preservation archaeology, to re-photograph the ancient sites exactly as Lindbergh did. The juxtaposition of thirty black-and-white remastered Lindbergh images and thirty contemporary color images, provides a fascinating survey of the area over nearly a century allowing a unique view of the multi-layered, cultural landscape of the American Southwest over time"--
