Implementation challenges for high-temperature composites by Anthony G Evans( )

3 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 1,139 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Some issues that influence the implementation of Ceramic (CMC) and titanium (TMC) matrix composites in high-temperature systems are addressed. Commonalities and differences are brought out by comparing and contrasting their themomechanical characteristics, with examples. Emphasis is given to the role of design and the use of mechanism-based models of material behavior. Factors addressed include the relative significance of thoughness and ductility for thermostructural applications, including their manifestation in the notch sensitivity. The detriments caused by anisotropy are examined, through discussions of mechanisms such as delamination in CMC's and transverse debonding in TMC's."--Page 1
Social and psychological factors in stress by Joseph Edward McGrath( Book )

3 editions published in 1970 in English and held by 474 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The book is the product of a three-day conference on social and psychological factors in stress. The purpose of the conference was to identify crucial issues in this area of stress and to seek potential research approaches to those issues as the focus of the basic contract research program for the sponsor. The document gives a conceptual formulation for research on stress, major substantive and methodological issues, an integrative review of some research on social-psychological factors in stress, and a discussion of strategic considerations for future research on stress

Decision modeling and behavior in complex and uncertain environments by Tamar Kugler( )

4 editions published in 2008 in English and held by 459 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This text is devoted to examining new research at the interface of operations research, behavioral and cognitive sciences, and decision analysis. In these 14 self-contained chapters, four themes emerge, providing the reader with a variety of perspectives both theoretic and applied to meet the challenges of devising models to understand the decision-making process."--Publisher's website
International Symposium on Nonlinear Differential Equations and Nonlinear Mechanics; [proceedings] by Joseph P LaSalle( Book )

4 editions published in 1963 in English and held by 459 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Nonlinear Differential Equations and Nonlinear Mechanics provides information pertinent to nonlinear differential equations, nonlinear mechanics, control theory, and other related topics. This book discusses the properties of solutions of equations in standard form in the infinite time interval. Organized into 49 chapters, this book starts with an overview of the characteristic types of differential equation systems with small parameters. This text then explains the structurally stable fields on a differentiable two manifold are the ones that exhibit the simplest features. Other chapters e

4 editions published in 1970 in English and held by 361 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

On May 20-24. 1968, a Conference on Functional Analysis and Related Fields was held at the Center for Continuing Education of the University cl Chicago in honor of ProfessoLMARSHALL HARVEY STONE on the occasion of his retirement from active service at the University. The Conference received support from the Air Force Office of Scientific Research under the Grant AFOSR 68-1497. The Organizing committee for this Conference consisted of ALBERTO P. CALDERON, SAUNDERS MACLANE, ROBERT G. POHRER, and FELIX E. BROWDER (Chairman). The present volume contains some of the papers presented at the Conference. nther talks which were presented at the Conference for which papers are noLinduded hereare: K. CHANDRASEKHARAN, "Zeta functions of quadratic fields"; J.L. DooB, "An application of prob ability theory to the Choquet boundary" ; HALMOS, "Irreducible operators"; P.R. KADISON, "Strong continuity of operator functions"; L. NIRENBERG, "Intrinsic norms on complex manifolds"; D. SCOTT, "Some problems and recent results in Boolean algebras"; 1. M. SINGER, "A conjecture relating the Reidemeister torsion and the zeta function of the Laplacian". A banquet in honor of Professor STONE was held during the Con ference, with brief talks by S.S. CHERN, A.A. ALBERT, S. MACLANE, E. HEWITT, K. CHANDRASEKHARAN, and F.E. BROWDER (as Toast master), as weH as a response by Professor STONE
