"I have gone beyond the problem of art ... For me painting today no longer relates to the eye; it relates to the only thing in us that does not belong to us: our lives." With this statement by Yves Klein, reflecting his passionate commitment to the transformation of modern consciousness, Pierre Restany begins his witness to one of the most extraordinary careers in postwar art. Hundertwasser : the painter-king with the 5 skins : the power of art by Pierre Restany( Book )

25 editions published between 1998 and 2011 in 3 languages and held by 283 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Hundertwasser applied this philosophy not only to the famous Viennese buildings for which he was renowned, but all the media and art-forms he has experimented with during his wild and crazy career. Whether it be painting, sculpture, performance art or designing a kindergarten, Hundertwasser's works are multi-coloured, organic, and shot through with a sense of the magical or fantastic. However, there are principles operating behind these joyful bursts of gold and silver. Hundertwasser's art has always contained a political shade. He has consistently rebelled against rationalist or determinist ideas, promoted ecological awareness, and mantained a passionate belief in the anarchy of the imagination. In this retrospective, Pierre Restany covers all the bases of Hundertwasser's eclectic development as an artist, from the tenant revolt and nude lecture of the early Seventies, through the housing projects in Vienna, right up to his designs for an alternative society
Dani Karavan by Pierre Restany( Book )

20 editions published between 1992 and 1993 in 3 languages and held by 266 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

For "documenta 6" in Kassel, Germany, Karavan created the Environment Made of Natural Materials and Memories. Composed of white concrete, wood, trees, stone, and water, the Way of Light (1988) in Seoul's Olympic Park achieves a remarkable balance of urban and natural elements. His Negev Monument (1963-68), constructed of "concrete, desert acacias, and wind" in the barren and hilly desert near Beersheba, has become a sight of pilgrimage for the local people as well as for international art lovers. For the last twelve years he has been working on the design and implementation of a monumental, three-kilometer long project for the satellite town of Cergy-Pontoise outside of Paris
