This volume is a biography of Abigail Adams (1744-1818), the wife of John Adams, the second President of the United States, and the mother of John Quincy Adams, the sixth President of the U.S. Adams's life is one of the most documented of the first ladies -- she is remembered for the many letters she wrote to her husband while he stayed in Philadelphia, during the Continental Congresses. John frequently sought the advice of Abigail on many matters, and their letters are filled with intellectual discussions on government and politics. The letters serve as eyewitness accounts of the American Revolutionary War home front. Presented chronologically, the author recounts the story how Abigail and John Adams fell in love and got married, describing how John Adams came to the Presidency as Abigail Adams gave birth to their children
Those who love : a biographical novel of Abigail and John Adams by Irving Stone( Book )

1 edition published in 1967 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

While it is fictionalized account of the relationship between Abigail and John Adams, it has been thoroughly researched and is accurate as far as the events in their are concerned. John and Abigail Adams were true partners in life. Their letters to one another showed that John considered not his wife, but his best friend, his intellectual equal and his greatest confidante. The book starts with the meeting of Abigail and John and their courtship in spite of her mother's initial disapproval. It centers mostly on Abigail who had the burden of making it all work while her husband pursued his political ambitions. They spent long periods of time apart while John was serving in Congress or in Europe. Quite often she had to do her best to make ends meet while John was not paid or belatdly paid by the government for his work
