Hidden House : a cliff ruin in Sycamore Canyon, central Arizona by
Keith A Dixon(
Book
)
2 editions published in 1956 in English and held by 101 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
"Hidden House is a small cliff dwelling in Sycamore Canyon, in the upper Verde Valley, central Arizona. The decorated pottery indicates that the cave was occupied between 1100 and 1300 A.D. (Pueblo III). The site may be placed in the Honanki Focus of the southern division of the Sinagua Branch. Around 1275 ± 25 A.D., possibly after the site had been temporarily abandoned, a middle-aged man died and was buried in an abandoned room. Since the cave was sheltered, the offerings accompanying the burial were well preserved. These include elaborate textiles, weapons, and paraphernalia which may have been ceremonial. These articles have been prominent display items in the Arizona State Museum in Tucson since 1933. This report presents a description of these specimens, comparative analyses, and a description of a single-focus site of the southern Sinagua Branch"--Page v
