Six thinking hats by Edward De Bono( Book )

181 editions published between 1985 and 2017 in 11 languages and held by 2,862 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Thinking often proceeds as drift and waffle and reaction," writes de Bono. In this book, he presents a way to become a better thinker. He separates thinking into six distinct modes, identified with six colored "thinking hats": White: facts, figures, and objective information; Red: emotions and feelings; Black: logical negative thoughts; Yellow: positive constructive thoughts; Green: creativity and new ideas; and Blue: control of the other hats and thinking steps. "Putting on" a hat focuses thinking; "switching" hats redirects thinking. With the different parts of the thinking process defined, discussions can be better focused and more productive. Using real-life situations as examples, de Bono creates scenarios that show how the effective use of "thinking hats" can: focus thinking more clearly; lead to more creative thinking; and improve communication and thus decision-making

Teach your child how to think by Edward De Bono( Book )

38 editions published between 1992 and 2017 in 7 languages and held by 1,286 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Our increasingly complicated lifestyle demands clear and constructive thinking: making decisions, making choices, taking initiatives, and being creative. Watching television for twenty to thirty hours a week, as many children do, results in a passive mind that can only copy what others are doing (including drugs, sex, and violence). Give your children a better chance in life. Thinking is a skill ... even a superior brain is wasted without it. You can start to teach your children to think - now. With examples, exercises, games, and drawings, Dr. de Bono, Rhodes scholar and leading authority on the direct teaching of thinking, demonstrates the difference between intelligence and thinking, and provides a step-by-step method for helping children develop clear and constructive thinking. Even one or two thinking habits taken from this book and given to your children may strongly affect their life
Lateral thinking : creativity step by step by Edward De Bono( Book )

41 editions published between 1970 and 2015 in English and held by 1,274 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"This book is intended for use both at home and at school. At school the emphasis has traditionally always been on vertical thinking which is effective but incomplete. This book is about lateral thinking which is the process of using information to bring about creativity and insight restructuring. Lateral thinking can be learned, practiced and used. It is impossible to acquire skill in it just as it is possible to acquire skill in mathematics."--From back cover

48 editions published between 1992 and 2015 in English and Undetermined and held by 1,185 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

If you want to be the best, focus on your most valuable asset: the power of your creative mind. As competition and the pace of change intensify, companies and individuals need to harness their creativity to stay ahead of the field. Under pressure, people often think they can't be creative; many more are convinced they are not creative at all because they have never been 'arty'. Creative genius Edward de Bono debunks these common notions in this remarkable book. He shows how creativity is a learnable skill - one that everyone can use to improve their performance. He then explains how you can unlock your own creativity to reap the personal and professional rewards it will bring

The five-day course in thinking by Edward De Bono( Book )

81 editions published between 1967 and 2016 in 4 languages and held by 964 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Edward de Bono believes that thinking is an enjoyable skill, that it is neither a painfully boring duty nor a pile of facts and semantic tricks. This skill can be developed directly - not as the by-product of a conventional education spent learning something else. This book offers a series of simple, but intriguing problems in thinking that require no special knowledge and no mathematics. The problems are designed to let the reader find out about his own personal style of thinking, its weakness and strenghts, and the methods, latent in himself, that he never uses. Being right is not always important - an error can lead to the right decision." --Publishers description

29 editions published between 1985 and 2018 in 3 languages and held by 633 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Think don't fight. In today's world we use an out of date thinking system to navigate our way through modern society, especially when it comes to conflicts and disagreements. Conflicts argues that instead of our age old system of debate we should instead adopt a `design idiom' and use lateral thinking to navigate a feud. If two parties think their argument is best, we should be introducing a third party role. De Bono explains how this concept of triangular thinking and map making is the way forward. By highlighting how the current system holds us back and offering practical alternatives De Bono paves the way for fundamental shift in conflict resolution
