Nomenclature of Organic Chemistry : IUPAC Recommendations and Preferred Names 2013 by International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry( )

5 editions published in 2014 in English and held by 680 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Chemical nomenclature is used to identify a chemical species by means of written or spoken words and enables a common language for communication amongst chemists. Nomenclature for chemical compounds additionally contains an explicit or implied relationship to the structure of the compound, in order that the reader or listener can deduce the structure from the name. This purpose requires a system of principles and rules, the application of which gives rise to a systematic nomenclature. Of course, a wide range of traditional names, semisystematic or trivial, are also in use for a core group of common compounds. Detailing the latest rules and international practice, this new volume can be considered a guide to the essential organic chemical nomenclature, commonly described as the Blue Book. An invaluable source of information for organic chemists everywhere and the definitive guide for scientists working in academia or industry, for scientific publishers of books, journals and databases, and for organisations requiring internationally approved nomenclature in a legal or regulatory environment"--EBL

7 editions published between 1985 and 2017 in English and held by 533 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The best available collection of thermodynamic data! The first-of-its-kind in over thirty years, this up-to-date book presents the current knowledgeon Standard Potentials in Aqueous Solution. Written by leading international experts and initiated by the IUPAC Commissions onElectrochemistry and Electroanalytical Chemistry, this remarkable work begins with athorough review of basic concepts and methods for determining standard electrodepotentials. Building upon this solid foundation, this convenient source proceeds to discussthe various redox couples for every known element. The chapters of this practical, time-saving guide are organized in order of the groups ofelements on the periodic table, for easy reference to vital material . AND each chapteralso contains the fundamental chemistry of elements ... numerous equations of chemicalreactions .. . easy-to-read tables of thermodynamic data ... and useful oxidation-statediagrams. Standard Potentials in Aqueous Solution is an ideal, handy reference for analytical andphysical chemists, electrochemists, electroanalytical chemists, chemical engineers, biochemists, inorganic and organic chemists, and spectroscopists needing information onreactions and thermodynamic data in inorganic chemistry . And it is a valuable supplementarytext for undergraduate- and graduate-level chemistry students."--Provided by publisher

Electrochemical nanotechnology : in-situ local probe techniques at electrochemical interfaces by W. J Lorenz( Book )

4 editions published in 1998 in English and held by 341 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A new window to local studies of interface phenomena at solid state surfaces has been opened by the development of local probe techniques such as Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) or Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) and related methods during the past fifteen years. The in-situ application of local probe methods in different systems belongs to modern nanotechnology and has two aspects: an analytical aspect and a preparative aspect. The first aspect covers the application of the local probe methods to characterize thermodynamic, structural and dynamic properties of solid state surfaces and inter

10 editions published between 1997 and 2011 in English and held by 336 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Enables teachers and students to obtain a sound training in IUPAC nomenclature. It outlines IUPAC recommendations for application in the principal branches of chemistry: organic, inorganic, organometallic, and polymer. It also includes some basic biochemical nomenclature. The book clearly explains the fundamental principles of nomenclature methods and enables the reader to apply them accurately and with confidence."--

Characterization of porous solids : proceedings of the IUPAC symposium (COPS I), Bad Soden a. Ts., F.R.G., April 26-29, 1987 by H Kral( )

11 editions published in 1988 in English and held by 301 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The importance of porosity has long been recognized by scientists and engineers. Porous solids are widely encountered in industry and everyday life and their behaviour, e.g. chemical reactivity, adsorptive capacity, and catalytic activity is dependent on their pore structure. A considerable amount of work on porous solids has been undertaken both in academic and in industrial laboratories. However, all this activity is in urgent need of a critical appraisal. To undertake this task, a number of leading experts in the field of adsorption, porosimetry, X-ray and neutron scattering, optical and electron microscopy, calorimetry and fluid permeation, were brought together at the 1987 IUPAC (COPS I) Symposium. This proceedings volume provides an up-to-date overall review of the theoretical foundations for modelling and characterizing porous systems. It deals with most of the techniques in current use as applied to both model systems and porous solids of industrial importance. The reader will find the description and discussion of a number of novel techniques as well as a critical appraisal and comparison of the more established methods. All those concerned with the characterization of porous solids in academic and industrial laboratories will find much to interest them in this volume. It should be on the bookshelf of applied research centres involved in adsorption, catalysis, purification of gases and liquids, pigments, fillers, building materials, etc
Characterization of porous solids II : proceedings of the IUPAC Symposium, COPS II, Alicante, Spain, May 6-9, 1990 by J Rouquerol( )

11 editions published in 1991 in English and held by 287 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Second IUPAC Symposium on the Characterization of Porous Solids (COPS-II) provided the opportunity for detailed discussion and appraisal of the most important techniques currently used for the characterization of porous materials, especially those of technological importance. The 82 selected papers and reviews contained in this volume are mainly concerned with the theoretical and experimental aspects of adsorption, fluid penetration, small-angle scattering and spectroscopic methods with their application in the study of adsorbents, catalysts, constructional materials, etc. Particular attention is given to the characterization of carbons, oxides, zeolites, clays, cement and polymers. The wide range of materials and techniques described in this book provide a useful and comprehensive reference source for academic and industrial scientists and technologists.--[Source inconnue]
