Excerpt from Peter Brook's one-act version of Carmen, which played at Lincoln Center Theater from November of 1983 to the spring of 1984. Five different singers alternated in the role of Carmen. In the first months of the run the opera was performed in French, while in later performances it was sung in English. The version seen in this excerpt is in French, with Emily Golden in the role of Carmen
