Contributions to modern and ancient tidal sedimentology : proceedings of the Tidalites 2012 Conference by Bernadette Tessier( )

4 editions published in 2016 in English and held by 626 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Tidal deposits have been a specific research topic for about 40 years, and whilst this has resulted in a proliferation of papers in scientific journals, there have only been a few book-length syntheses. Over the years, tidal sedimentology has been reinforced by fluid mechanics and numerical modelling but has remained rooted in facies and stratigraphic studies. Recent developments in tidal sedimentology lean toward a more quantitative assessment of the imprint of tides in the facies record of intertidal and shallow subtidal areas. They highlight the increasing relevance of tidal deposits studies, from high resolution subsurface reservoir geology to climate change and sea-level rise. This volume gathers 17 contributions to the Tidalites 2012 congress held in Caen, France. It reflects current advances in the sedimentology and stratigraphy of tidal deposits, in both ancient and modern environments. It shows the current diversity of this field of research, through a wide spectrum of methods including remote sensing, in-situ hydrodynamical measurements, and ichnology, in addition to classic field studies and petrography"--Back cover

Pelagic sediments, on land and under the sea : proceedings of a symposium held at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zürich, 25-6 September, 1973 by Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule Zürich( Book )

9 editions published in 1974 in English and held by 542 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This first IAS Special Publication contains the oral presentations from a special symposium on pelagic sediments held in Zurich in 1973. The aim of the symposium was to bring together sea-borne researchers involved with the Deep Sea Drilling Project and land-locked researchers studying ancient sediments. Continental margin sedimentation : from sediment transport to sequence stratigraphy( Book )

2 editions published in 2007 in English and held by 427 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"Continental Margin Sedimentation: From Sediment Transport to Sequence Strategraphy is designed to provide a research resource for scientists studying modern and ancient continental margins, and to be an educational text for advanced students in sedimentology and stratigraphy. It summarizes and integrates our understanding of sedimentary processes and strata associated with fluvial dispersal systems on continental shelves and slopes."--Jacket
Sediments, morphology, and sedimentary processes on continental shelves : advances in technologies, research, and applications by Michael Z Li( )

13 editions published in 2012 in English and held by 426 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

« The application of multibeam and sediment transport measurement technologies and the adoption of multi-faceted research methodologies have greatly advanced our understanding of the sedimentary processes on continental shelves in the last decade. This book uniquely blends cutting-edge research and state-of-the art review articles that take stock of new advances in multibeam mapping and sediment transport technologies, spatial analysis and modelling, and the applications of these advances to the understanding of shelf sediments, morphodynamics, and sedimentary processes. Case studies are also presented to illustrate the utilization of seabed property and process knowledge in habitat mapping and ocean management. With its mix of papers focusing on technological advances, integration of shelf morphology and processes, and the application of these advances to coastal and ocean management, this Special Publication volume will serve as a milestone reference for professional marine scientists and as advanced text for students in marine geology, sedimentology and oceanography. This book is part of the International Association of Sedimentologists (IAS) Special Publications. The Special Publications from the IAS are a set of thematic volumes edited by specialists on subjects of central interest to sedimentologists. Papers are reviewed and printed to the same high standards as those published in the journal Sedimentology and several of these volumes have become standard works of reference. »--

Sediment-hosted mineral deposits : proceedings of a symposium held in Beijing, People's Republic of China, 30 July-4 August 1988 by David Lamb( Book )

10 editions published between 1988 and 2009 in English and held by 414 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This publication consists of papers delivered at an International Symposium of the International Association of Sedimentologists held at Beijing, Peoples' Republic of China in August, 1988. The theme of the symposium was sedimentology related to mineral deposits and incorporated meetings of three International Geological Correlation Programmes (IGCP) Projects; IGCP 219 on Comparative Lacustrine Sedimentology in Space and Time, IGCP 226 on Manganese Deposits, and IGCP 254 on Metalliferous Black Shales. This book is intended for earth scientists and advanced students studying/working in the areas of sedimentology, petroleum geology, ore geology and economic geology

Glacial sedimentary processes and products by M. J Hambrey( )

11 editions published between 2007 and 2009 in English and held by 399 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Associating ice masses with the transport and deposition of sediments has long formed a central theme in glaciology and glacial geomorphology. The reason for this focus is clear, in that ice masses are responsible for much of the physical landscape which characterizes the Earth's glaciated regions

The Geological modelling of hydrocarbon reservoirs and outcrop analogues by Ian D Bryant( Book )

4 editions published between 1993 and 2009 in English and held by 364 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book focuses on the new but fast developing area of quantitative computer-based modelling of oil and gas reservoirs and the input data required for these procedures. It integrates the quantitative description of rock outcrops with latest generation computer graphics and mathematics modelling procedures. Representing the scientific interface between academic and oil industry geology, this book will show reservoir engineers what geologists can contribute to their mathematical modelling
A field guide to the neogene sedimentary basins of the Almería Province, SE Spain by International Association of Sedimentology( )

2 editions published in 2001 in English and held by 297 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Almería Province of SE Spain, a semi-arid, tectonically active region, is the focus of a wide range of scientific teaching and research in the earth sciences by universities and associated bodies from around the world. This field guide provides an up-to-date and integrated approach to the geology and geomorphology of Almería Province, compiled by active scientific researchers in the region. The guide assumes a basic knowledge of geology and geomorphology and will be of interest to earth scientists at all levels from the keen amateur through to undergraduate/postgraduate students and academics visiting the region. The guide provides general background on the area, followed by a selection of specialized trips that progressively explore the structure and development of the basins, the shallow marine sedimentation, the continental sedimentation and finally the uplift, dissection and geomorphic evolution of the sedimentary basins. This is the first widely published field guide on the Almería Province and it is unique in both its coverage and integrated earth science approach, providing valuable support for both teaching and research in the region

Permo-Carboniferous carbonate platforms and reefs( Book )

3 editions published in 2003 in English and held by 262 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume provides new material and global insight into Permo-Carboniferous geology. Within the evolving Permo-Carboniferous 'landscape, ' a wide diversity of carbonate platforms and reefs flourished.
