Consisting of microfilm and closed originals, the John Lind Mexican Mission Papers recount former Minnesota congressman (1883-1897 and 1903-1905) and governor (1899-1901) John Lind's diplomatic mission to Mexico in 1913-1914 during the Mexican Revolution as the personal representative of President Woodrow Wilson, and reflect his continued involvement and interest in Mexican affairs subsequent to that time. They comprise all of his papers for the years 1913-1916, the majority of which concern Mexico, plus those items for the period 1917-1931 that relate to Mexico. Included are diplomatic dispatches, correspondence, reports from others involved in Mexican affairs, printed materials, and copies of official documents. The collection also includes some 1,100 research note cards. The microfilm was made from documents in the John and Norman Lind Papers manuscript collection. The originals were removed from the main body of that collection, microfilmed, and closed to general use

Joan Lluís Vives (Valencia, 6 de marzo de 1492-Brujas, 6 de mayo de 1540). España. Nació en Valencia en una relevante familia de la comunidad judía que se convirtió al cristianismo para proteger su integridad y sus propiedades. Sin embargo, los Vives practicaban el judaísmo en una sinagoga que tenían en su casa hasta que fueron descubiertos en pleno oficio religioso y fueron condenados por la Inquisición. A los quince años, Juan Luis Vives empezó a estudiar en la Universidad de Valencia. El proceso contra su familia continuó y en 1509, su padre decidió enviarlo a París, donde estudió en la Sorbona y se graduó 1512 con el grado de doctor. Por entonces se fue a Brujas y allí recibió la noticia de que su padre había sido ejecutado en la hoguera. Deprimido, marchó a Inglaterra tras rechazar una oferta para enseñar en la Universidad de Alcalá de Henares. En el verano de 1523, fue elegido lector del Colegio de Corpus Christi por el cardenal Wosley en Inglaterra. Allí se hizo amigo de Tomás Moro y la reina Catalina de Aragón. Desde mayo de 1526 hasta abril de 1527 residió de nuevo en Brujas, donde supo de la condena a muerte de su amigo Tomás Moro por oponerse al divorcio del rey. Allí escribió su Tratado del socorro de los pobres, que propone por primera vez un servicio organizado de asistencia social. Vives dedicó sus últimos años a perfeccionar la cultura humanística de los duques de Mencia. En 1529 su salud era precaria: sufría dolores de cabeza y una úlcera estomacal. Murió el 6 de mayo de 1540 en su casa de Brujas de un cálculo biliar
