This booklet provides a guide to the locations of more than 500 periodicals and newspapers relating to black Americans which were received before November 1974 by the libraries of the University of Wisconsin at Madison and the library of the State Historical Society of Wisconsin. The scope of the guide is broad, including literary, political, and historical journals, as well as general newspapers of the black community. Representation of all phases of black thought and action, from the Abolitionist involvement of the nineteenth century to the civil rights and black nationalist movements of the 1960s and 1970s, is provided.
